Best Lighting For Vegging??

MH has best penetration, T5's suck less juice, but don't penetrate as well...Your choice...Or there's oh, I don't want to say this...L....E....D's...
 
Without taking into consideration things like electricity and intitial cost and heat and all that, a nice big metal halide with a quality reflector is literally the best light you can use for veg. That is to say that your plants will respond best that kind of light and, under optimum conditions, will grow better than with other types of lights. There are good arguments for cfls, t5, t12 and other types. However, imo there is no topping a 1000w mh for pure vegatative power!!
 
In my opinion, T5's beat CFL's. I've used both and my plants responded amazingly to the T5's. FWIW I have two 3 foot 4 bulb fixtures over mine which i purchased from a aquarium supply store online Aquatraders. These are aquarium lights, the brand name of the lights is Odyssea, and they come with 2 white and 2 actinic blue bulbs...my plants LOVE them. And they were cheaper than my 2' T5 fixtures which were sold as "grow lights".
 
m/l light is what you want. STZ is right on. from 400 to 1000 watts. i use 400 it works great.

Metal Halide is the best for veg. In my opinion wattage depends on size of grow room. (More the Better) I use a 400 watt MH on a 6 foot light rail and 2, 8 foot H.O. florescent fixtures. 2, 110 watt bulbs each for a 5 foot by 8 foot area. I can grow 30 plants in that size room. i use 65 watt cfl from lowes 300 watt equ.. on my mommas and the are bushes gives me more clones then i can cut
 
thanks for help dudes!! i have a dr60 grow tent, so think i will buy some 3foot flour 100watt, how many of them would i need, will one colour do for the ladies??? i have a 400watt,hps, but im not going to use this until flower. sound ok??
 
I would go with ALL Blue LED's from Growl LED. no way would I EVER use MH EVER! LED's for VEG. are the way to grow.

You can buy a Metal Halide conversion Bulb for your HPS set up. Much better in my opinion. MH lights will keep node spacing close and plants love those watts. you should have at least 400 watts of flo's if you go that way.
 
ye that sounds great!! how much would you pay?? wat size bulb would you recomend for 3x3x5 grow tent?? will have five plants in it!!
