best insulation for walls in grow room

Again and very clearly- foam is the worst material you can put in a wall/ ceiling / floor for soundproofing. That’s all I’m saying. Fiberglass is what is used for that

People can make anything simple into something terribly difficult...... I've kinda lost the will to keep trying to help people here just cause of that reason.......

THANK YOU, YES IN A BEDROOM. WHAT ABOUT THE PURPLE MOLD RESISTANT DRYWALL or cement board IS THAT OK? AND CAN I USE A TARP TO COVER CARPET OR PLASTIC THANK YOU

DONT go with OSB. Quarter inch plywood will be much better. Ply is easier to prime and paint and will be much stronger when you start screwing in all the hooks youll hang everything with. Plus any little bit of moisture that comes in contact with that little spot you missed with the paint will allow everything under the paint start to delaminate.
 
I closed cell spray foamed my entire building. It definitely makes a good seal and it's good insulation. That said it's expensive af and I'm sure there are cheaper ways that would be just as good.
 
Yes it doesn't do much for sound but it my situation it doesn't matter, the building is not a house where I have to hear it all the time. And even if I did I slept with tents and fans in my bedroom for years so I'm used to it.

If you have an attached house like a condo or something I can understand worrying about it but otherwise I wouldn't worry about it. I'm in a legal state now but never worried about it before I was either. If you have the cops coming close enough to your house to say they could hear your grow, you already made a mistake by telling someone you shouldn't have. Other than idiots having domestic disputes, or an accidental fire the only reason I've ever heard of anyone being caught is cause they trusted people. And you just can't trust people, I've learned that the hard way. Your friends are your friends but they still shouldn't be trusted with your freedom.

purple is likely fine as long as its mold resistant its likely just a different color because of the manufacturer depending on your local area. i personally wouldnt cover the carpet with plastic or a tarp because moisture could condense between the plastic and the carpet causing the carpet to smell moldy i have my own grow room in a basement with concrete however if i had to have it on a main floor the cheapest flooring that would do would likely be a type of vinyl flooring. im sure tiles would be fine as well.
 
Roxul, stone wool batt insulation. Great soundproofing, and provides extra fire barrier protection.
 
I’m surprised this thread got this far without mentioning mold and mildew issues.
I’ve built and also torn down several grow areas over the years. In every case where batt insulation was used , there was mold inside the wall cavity. Now, I do live in very cool/ cold climate where its extremely cold during the long winter season. And that cold blasting the out side of a 2x4 wall while I’ve got cranked up to 80 degrees inside the room, well, that’s where the condensation starts. This may not be an issue on interior walls but if you are on any exterior walls this could be an issue.
IMO... the foam insulation seems worth the extra investment. On a2x4 wall with batts I think you can only get R13 or maybe R15, foam gets you R21, and less potential mold issues.
