Hey gang

I been lurking on here for about 3 weeks now and I must have read nearly every single sticky and thread with over 50+ replies. lol

Learnt so much and now im ready to get my hands dirty.

Im going to build my own stealth cabinet or buy something like a small grow tent as the ready made cabinets are crazy prices.

I went out and bought a 150w hps as im only looking to supply myself and wife with bud instead of getting low class shit from street dealers and risking getting caught. And I also get to choose what starins I want which is unbelievable I havnt really tried that many except when I was in Amsterdam! Silver Haze is the bomb!!!

This grow must be total stealth and I want to buy once and not have to upgrade along the line so I need advise on a quiet as possible exhaust fan.

So far the S&P's look like a good buy that was until I came across the acoustic fans which seem right up my alley in terms of stealth/quietness.

Anyway feel free to chip in with ideas im all ears and eager to get stated.

Acoustic fans... link?
I have an S&P 6" for exhaust and it's great. I plan on purchasing a 4" for my intake, too.
hvacquick.com has the best prices that I've found.

How big are you thinking of growing. Im sure its bigger then what I got but PC fans I got are quite and do the job, but then again I am in a PC case... But you could use them for a larger area if you got some nice 120mm. Just an idea.

A 150 doesn't put out that much heat. Even PC fan's could cool the box.

Maybe you should let us know how you want to vent the box. If you want to vent with ducting to an attic or outside then you'll want a fan made for ducting like a duct booster (under $40) or a kitchen or bathroom vent fan ($14+). IF your ducting will be long though then you'll need a real can fan. (expensive)

Whatever you get (well if you get more than silent pc fans) you will want a speed control so you can cut the noise down to only what you require. If you use a bathroom or kitchen fan then a standard dimmer is enough. Some fans are loud and some are pretty quiet as is, look at the sones rating or db rating of whatever you are thinking about before buying and there are charts out there to compare the two.

I use a Braun kitchen fan that's already near silent, 250cfm 6" to cool a large closet with 2x 250w halides. It has to run about 1/2 speed.
I don't recall the sones rating but it was among the lowest.
Anyway it was $20 on clearance in a hood that had a ding, and I yanked it from the hood and got a free speed control with it but it only has 3 positions.
