Price is not a factor in any of these questions:

- According to luminosity and spectrum, which bulbs in today's market are the absolute best:confused: What I mean specifically, is under which bulbs will the plants grow and flower the best:confused:

-Which reflective material is the most efficient:confused:

-Which reflector design is the most efficient?

-Which carbon filter is the best for containing smell:confused: Are there any other supplies needed to maintain efficient smell control:confused:

Thanks muchbongsmilie

I think it comes down to personal preference. I've used SonAgro, Hortilux, and Sunnmaster bulbs without noticing much difference between the bulbs. For reflective materials, I've used flat white paint, mylar, and panda plastic. Mylar is the most reflective, but I prefer panda because it's easier to work with - for me. Reflective hoods, I use an air cooled hood. There's many options here as well including cool tubes and hanging vertically. I've never used anything to control the smell, but if you're going to use a carbon filter, make sure you have some can fans - you need to bring fresh air in and force the exhaust thru the filter. I think there's a machine that uses ozone to eliminate the smell - downside is you can die if you don't keep an eye on it. Again, some of it is going to be personal preference and others will be dictated by the size, shape, and location of your grow area. Cost may or may not be a factor in your choices too

Hi Shredder. I'm at about the same point as you where I am assembling my first grow. Obviously I haven't practiced what Ive preached, but I will give you my one cent. I've been doing quite a bit of research. Make a carbon filter like delerious suggested. Everything I've been told is that they are the most effective and ,bonus, inexpensive ventilation device to be had. I've read nothing but good things. There is a DIY section in the FAQ section of this site. Also, you do need some ventilation device to push the air out through the grow room. From what I've read the best item to use is a squirrel cage blower. This would be placed outside of the grow and blow air in through some tubing, perhaps aluminum flex tubing. Make sure you have appropriate CFM's for the cage blower. This is the measurement for the strength of the blower. It has to be strong enough to get the air moving. In addition to the C02 filter, I have read that Ionizers can be used as well to kill the smell. IMO you would use it outside of the grow to kill any excess smell...putting one inside just seems silly (The plants gonna smell so put it somewhere that will be effective). Wouldn't hurt to have some fabreeze on hand as well. This is what I've come up on filtration and ventilation in my research. I will let experienced folk talk about reflection and bulb type. I start building next week and will have some pictures up. Peace

Cool, cool, thanks a lot for the info guys, but I need others to chime in too. I'm actually thinking of designing a grow room which I will use for future grows too, so I will get the hook-up straigt from my first grow. More info please........

Hi, I Still Say The Best Think To Do Is Go Down To Your Hydro-store In Town And Talk To Those Guys, they Won't Steer You Wrong Because They Know You Will Be Back. I Talk To My Hydro Guys At Least Once Every Two Weeks, They Have Been So Much Help. They Even Let Me Try Stufff Out Before I Buy It To See If I Like It. I Tried Out A Couple Of 400's Before Buy A Tube From Them It Was Great. Even Rite Know They Let Me Take One Of Those Led Lites Home To Try Out.
