Trying to get an idea if anyone has seen some good deals or has a recommendation on a lm301b/h bar light for a 4x4?

I'd stay away from the China stuff, often they say one thing, and you get another, also if you have a warranty problem with the light, I've heard nothing but horror stories trying to replacement lights/parts.

The HLG 650R is 739 right now. I know that kind of pricy but it’s a killer light with great costumer support and has been tested a ton.
I use a China off brand 480w with no issues for several years now so not bashing the China made lights they do work very well and priced right just not sure how long shipping takes these days.
I don't think I'd buy another non bar style light - at least not for a grow tent. It's nice to be able to get a full spread 8" away

Check out the new hortibloom 600 or 800 solux. They are badass lights but they are a small footprint with crazy diode count and wattage. Not too bad priced for what they are but I’m sure the light spread is much less than a bar style since it’s such a compact design.

These "Best" threads are always kind of funny. Seven replies and five different suggestions.

I decided last night to go with the MedicGrow Fold 8.

760w, quality build and warranty.

With they're sale and discount code it was only $472.50 delivered to my door.

Can't beat that.
Now it's just a waiting game for the delivery guy......
That's funny, I was going to recommend it, then I got to the end of the thread and you ordered it lol. I love my Fold 8, and I'd actually love to someday get a 5x5 and run it in there. I like that they use white/red diodes like HLG, the light doesn't have that yellow tint to it. It's also such a massive chunk of aluminum, it really works well as a heat sink. The approach they use with using the less efficient Samsung diodes, but many many more of them, and a higher than average wattage (for this footprint) really gives the most even coverage I've seen. My only gripe is that you can't get at the driver because it's built into the frame. This fixture has given me my highest yield so far too, though yield isn't important to me, just another metric to compete with myself against. I'm looking forward to your first grow with it! Send me a message if you need help figuring out the mounting hardware, you'll probably get it right away but I struggled to figure it out, hehe.

I appreciate the input and definitely will hit you up with any questions.

Don't think the driver will be an issue for me. I'm in a semi-cool basement, so I can use the extra heat.

Although they might not be the 301b diodes, I'm 100% sure it's going to wipe the floor compared to what I'm running now.

I finally broke down after 4 years and got a Photobio PAR meter yesterday. One minute of having it in the tent and seeing my ACTUAL par numbers and not a Lux conversion, I gave in and accepted that, as I've known and like some people here @bk78 :) and others have said, that my Chinese Amazon boards blow big time...

It was time I join the big boys game....so here we are. :)

I'd like to hear some of the #s you get with that light and your new Par meter-I've been planning on getting the same 1 for the past year or so but something else always comes up before I can pull the trigger.

I'll definitely be doing a #'s check right out of the box.
Once I get all the data I'll post it up and tag you for sure.

They said 4-7 days shipping on the site, so hopefully I'll have something to post by next weekend at the latest.

Forgot to mention I found the meter on ebay last week, brand new for $135. I couldn't pass that up.
I'm pretty obsessed when it comes to coverage and par, and knowing I wasn't seeing the real thing all this time has been killing me.

Glad to have it over with.

May I ask what meter did you get? I got a cheap Liz meter but I need to decent par meter

It's a Phantom Photobio. Seems pretty nice so far.

Here's the link where I got mine. Still $135 with free shipping. Showed up in 5 days FedEx.
