Being a runner and a cannabis smoker

I like to run and smoke. In fact I usually burn a bit before I go out for a run.

I've never noticed any diminished lung capacity. Even when I was smoking so much I would cough up black mucus I never had a problem with lung capacity. Then again I'm young so that may change as I age.

I have a buddy whose probably been smoking for thirty years plus. One of the fittest dudes I know. If you keep your body in shape a little smoke can't do all that much damage.
Agree - I'm getting over the hill, been smoking about twice a week for the last few years and my resting heart rate is less than 48 bpm with no noticeable effect on lung capacity.

Vaporizing indeed. Btw, it has been shown that marijuana smoke contains 50% to 70% more carcinogens (cancer-causing chemicals) than tobacco smoke. I still find it hard to believe.
While that is true, the THC and CBD in marijuana has been shown to actual prohibit the formation of cancer and promote a faster cellular replacement cycle (replacing cells with new cells before cancerous mutations might occur). Most studies have indicated that no link could be found between smoking marijuana and cancer despite the greater presence of carcinogens in marijuana, however conducting such research is problematic while marijuana is illegal in most locations. The following details some of the work that has been done.

I am walker and jogger but I feel to relaxed to do anything when I'm medicated. After the effects wear off I fall asleep like a baby and the next day I feel amazing and start exercising. Its like cannabis has a positive long term affect on me. It makes my mornings less groggy and more FRESH and I never smoke in the mornings cuse in a non psychoactive way I still feel medicated.

Started smoking cannabis at age 17, now 64. Not daily, but more often than not. Started running at age 52 after starting to tub up. Went to vaping & edibles exclusively about 3-4 years ago. That made a huge difference, like over 2 minutes in my 10K time. I vape (in a volcano) good bud, that I grow myself. Try to run 4-5 times a week, 25-30 MPW, 9-12 LR, speed work every other week. Have run a lot more, like 60K on my 60th birthday & several ultras & marathons, but hey, I'm freakin' 64 & goin' downhill. All I'm tryin' to do now is delay the inevitable.
I read this and it freaks me out having started smoking earlier and not done any marathons!

I'm 25 and have been running >15 miles a week for about 3 years now and have been a daily smoker for around 6. I don't smoke a TON but I have asthma which I personally beleive is solely caused by smoking. It's allergy/exercise induced and did not have asthma prior to making smoking a daily habit. It sucks, but breathing any kind of smoke is going to screw up your lungs in some way and I just so happen to have a crazy histamine response.

I often smoke before I run and it does nothing beneficial for me... makes me want to quit sooner and say "well, 4 miles is good enough" when I planned on running 6 miles. Or jog casually instead of doing my planned interval run. I do love going for a nice walk when I'm stoned though.... but really... in all honesty, I've found that running and smoking absolutely do not go hand and hand for me.
