Beginner strains

Ok so i posted here a lil while and got some great responses as to what I would need to start a grow. My question now is what should I grow? I know I will make plenty of mistakes on my first grow so in your experience which strains can take the most abuse?

Another off topic question, I live in Scotland and the most common smoke here is cannabis resin which costs £60 - £70 for an oz. I know most of you will smoke bud but the stuff I can get here really isn't up to much and tbh I prefer the resin. Just wondering what you all smoke and how the resin is where you come from.

By "resin", do you mean that gooey stuff we scrape from inside our pipes? Man, if that's the case, and you prefer that over the weed around your place, I'd definitely start growing my own.LOL The only one I have tried, that I can recommend, is Crystal. It's a cup-winning White Widow/Ice hybrid, takes alot of abuse(trust me on that one.lol), looks freakin amazing, all white and covered with trichs, and the smoke is potent, as well. Feminized seeds are pretty cheap, so it might be an option for ya. :)

bagseed. best strain for beginers. dont waste ur money on genetics till u know what ur doing. dont buy early cause u want ur plant to be all it can be. and if u dont know what to give it so it can be all it can be then i would start simple. search ur couch and car for some spare seeds. lol. goodtimez

I would recommend white widow ,ak 47 or hindu kush.White widow and ak47 is what i used for my first grow and the smoke is great.

Yeah same here, well that or any hash for that matter, can be called resin I suppose, after all its made up of trichomes/thc/and oils.
yeah, I was going to say that, I don't like oil on it'sown. I like to mix it with screened hash (kief), easier to smoke.

i dont see how white widow is a newbie friendly strain...... its a sativa dominate takes long time to flower isnt the best yielder and really imo isnt ment for a new grower......

why not get a more hardy noob friendly strain... like "oddessey" its a hardy mold resistant easy to grow strain........ i wouldnt do white widow if your a noob and i sale clones for a living at the club....

Bagseed is a terrible choice for beginners. For one you do not know anything at all about it's genetics so you do not know what is it and you do not know it's needs and you do not know how much stretch to expect during flowering (you cannot rely on the old 2 to 3 times baloney because if you get something that is highly sativa it might jump up as much as 6 times in height) and you do not have even the slightest clue to it's needed flowering time.

Next, you do not know if it was intentionally grown as seedy pot or the result of a female turned hermi, which passes on the hermi trait, so you might end up with hermis and not be able to figure out why and wonder what you did wrong.

Another reason is herb grown to be smoked is not herb that was grown to create viable seeds for growing from so you may end up with seeds that are nonviable or only partially viable and lack vigor and have problems that you will not know how to deal with and not knows the cause for them.

Purchase professional genetics from a top name quality breeder but pick a strain that has been around long enough that it is not in such hot demand that the price is high and pick one that has a proven track record of being simple to grow and resilient when it comes to grower errors but is still of high enough quality/potency that in the end you will enjoy it.

I would suggest Sensi Seeds Skunk #1. Back when it was one of the very most potent strains to be found it was advertised as maybe being the only strain that was easier to grow than it was to smoke.

Sensi Seeds Skunk #1 - Price: $41.91 (USD) 10 regular seeds per pack.
(Price found at The Attitude seedbank.)

Here's another no to White Widow. That is not a beginner strain IMHO. Slightly lower germ rates and not the most forgiving of choices. Not that it's impossible for a beginner. I agree with Brick Top, any skunk strain is going to be a better beginner choice.

In my honest opinion check out Northern Lights. It's an easy to grow strain that can take some abuse, but also low odor (not sure if all phenos are low odor though...) and a relatively short plant if height is at all a factor for you.

Good luck.

If this was 6 or 8 years ago when you could find original genetics Northern Lights everywhere you looked, and at times find it for a reasonable price, I would agree with you 100%.

These days most Northern Lights you find are knockoff strains from lesser skilled breeders and not at all the real deal Northern Lights that promised the grower what people still think they will find and expect to find in Northern Lights knockoffs.

If someone purchase original genetics, they will pay a lot for them. Being a first grow I would suggest lower priced genetics just in case a major malfunction occurs so not so much money is lost and I would suggest sticking with a top quality breeder rather than a knockoff artist breeder.

Sensi Seeds Skunk #1 is, in my opinion, the best strain a new grower can begin with. Sensi Seeds is a top rated breeder and their Skunk #1 has a proven record of being simple to grow, it produces well, it is a very stable strain, it is mold resistant and while not the most potent of strains in the world today it is still very good, it is anything but Roadside Red or Ghetto Gold, and will be more than just enjoyed when smoked. It is just as potent today as when it set the pot growing world on it's ear and became the strain that was the yardstick that all other strains were measured against.

Are there any breeders that sell seeds that have anything close to the original?
