Totally new to beer. Many of you may know that.
I wanted to start a thread dedicated solely to beer.
But I used the search function and found this oldie but hopefully goody.
What is your absolute favorite beer and why?
Mine’s the grapefruit beer because it doesn’t taste like beer HA :eyesmoke:

I like German Beers the best specifically Hofbrau. The taste is something to behold.
The Germans sure know their beer. The country literally has in total approximately 1,300 breweries
producing about 5000 brands of beer. They have the highest density of breweries in the world.

I used to have a unopened beer
collection of about 300 beers from all over the world. No Independents, Micro-brews etc..
When I collected, I always bought 2 of the same brand that way I would be able to try one and save one
for my collection as well. Love the dark's also. One of the dark's I had, can't remember the name but the
bottle label was silver with black medieval looking script. Strong contrast over the black beer inside the bottle.
The beer was like tar heavy taste.

As of 2012, the U.S. state with the highest number of craft breweries per capita was Vermont, with 1 brewery for every 24,067 people. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_breweries_in_the_United_States

Funny, I've never had a craft beer. No reason. I had no Idea about Vermont though. Very interesting!

On another note, The Benedictine Weihenstephan Abbey (Weihenstephan north of Munich Germany) Founded 725 which established the oldest still-operating brewery in the world in 1040.

As of September 2017 Switzerland is the Country with the most breweries per capita in the world. In average 10,000 people in Switzerland have 1 brewery. The Czech Republic ranks #1 for beer consumption with 37.6 gallons consumed per capita. The world's biggest beer drinkers in the world hail from the birthplace of Pilsner. The Czech Republic. o_O

I was really into brewing 15 years ago......
Want some cool history look up guinness.
Arthur Guinness started brewing ales in 1759 at the St. James's Gate Brewery, Dublin. On 31 December 1759, he signed a 9,000 year lease at £45 per annum for the unused brewery.[6][7][8] Ten years later, on 19 May 1769, Guinness first exported his ale: he shipped six-and-a-half barrels to Great Britain

I remember hearing something about a grain mill burning down and he made something from that.......

Looks like a beer thread never took off. BB drinks bourbon for the past couple of decades but back in the day, it was Bud Light or Heineken. "Nothing says success like a fridge full of green bottles" ;)
