Anyone got any suggestions and/or pix of how to light seal a bedroom door and keep it fuctional? Door needs to look unaltered from hallway...
 
THEY HAVE SOMETHING CALLED A DOOR SHOE THAT YOU PUT UNDER THE DOOR. DO YOU HAVE CARP. OR WOOD/TILE? YOU PROB. WILL NOT GET RID OF ALL THE LIGHT COMING OUT.

I tried tarps and mylar, its good, but not great. I'm thinking that I'm going to try cardboard... although if I had money, I saw these rubber dealies that make your door air tight. I imagine that they are also light proof.
 
The only way to do it is to get a staple gun and a piece of poly (black on one side and white on the other), your local hydro store can cut it so size for you. Lay a 2x4 cut to size at the bottom of your closet and staple the poly all the way around the door and to the bottom at the 2x4. Buy a tarp zipper from your hydro store also and stick it to the poly. Then unzip it and slice down the middle. Make sure the black side is facing out. Instant light blocking, 100%.

a long the in side of the door in the room tack some 1x2 around the door. if that don't woork try some winter weather striping. if its not a solid wood door use luqid nail to atach the 1x2 around the door. just make sure the wood covers the gap between the dood & the frame. good luck on your grow. may you only have females.
 
I ended up cutting 2" strips out of and old pair of jeans. Doubled it over and thumbtacked it up on the inside of the door frame. On the bottom of door I'm just using a rolled up towel. Cheapest, Easiest way I could come up with. Works great. Thanks for all advise given.:peace:
 
I've seen a product for keeping cold air out; it's called a "Draft Dodger". It's basically a tube of insulating stuff that you lay at the bottom of the door. If it would keep out air, it will keep out light too.
 
I just went to my local hydro store and priced out some black and white plastic, its less than a buck a foot. Hence it would cost you seven bucks to cover your door. Plus the cost of some velcro... That's the way Im going anyway.
 
The denim Blocks 100% of light and so does the towel across bottom. Cost $0.00. Once I get my freak'n camera "been waiting for ever" I will take some pix.
 
A drop cloth should work, I just didn't want to mess w/ anything everytime I opened the door. Denim is tacked to inside of door jamb. just like weatherstriping....
 
Seems you've already solved your problem, but I'll throw out my solution anyway it worked 4 me. I got a 4' x 8' blackout curtain from walmart for like 20 bucks sewed some velcro to it and the wall, it works great. Its the kind they use in hotels, kind of pricy but its breathable which I like, allows for a great passive intake. And for all you stylish guys and gals out there they come in all kinds of colors
