BBG (Baisic Bagseed Grow)

Hey guys!!! this is my first journal so be patient with me and please feel free to ask any questions

Heres the catch
I really wanted to start a big grow with a fully funtional grow box and blah blah blah BUT!!! i am pretty strapped on cash right now with the hollidays coming so it was either this or nothing at all and well. im running out of my summer harvest pretty fast :Joint:
so i had about 30 bucks to spend to get this bad boy going.

All constructive criticizm is welcome here but if your just going to be a dick wad please take it elsewhere as i do know my grow is lacking but its what i have and im pretty anxious to see how its going to turn out.
with that being said, we are all here to learn and enjoy the cultivation of a extremely cool ass plant, Mj is really fun to grow wether it be on a large scale or not, personally i like small scale grows because you can pay more attention to your plants as individuals but hey thats just me

my intentions for this grow are to be able to experiment with some LST and topping and to see what CFL are capable of

I plan on keeping the best looking female out of the 6 i have sprouting and i anticipate all 6 will come up as they were germed up good before i planted them. the makes will be trashed and the remaining females will be given to friends/family to grow out so no girls will go wasted here!!!

I will be flowering when the plant reaches about 1 ft in height to keep them small and find out my Sex before i waste too much resources on males/females i dont intend to keep.

i only want 1 plant because its all i have room and money for and i think on my budget it would not be wise to try and grow out more than that. anyways on with the show

i have done alot of reading on this site and did grow 3 plants this summer fairly sucessfully 6 Oz dry from 3 plants and my first grow, had to chop early and a few other issues came up that affected my yeild but all in all i didnt do too bad.
Supplies I have to start:

2x 26w 6500k daylight CFL (I will be buying 2 more 2700k 26w CFL and have 4 bulbs total on my plant for flowering stage but for now i will make due with this)

soil from this summers grow, im using it because its still decent dirt and i will be adding nutrients so it should be fine.

1 bag Miracle grow perilite. will be mixing this with the soil

1 bag Miracle grow Sphaggum peat moss. will also be adding this to the soil mixture so i will have 1/2 parts soil 1/4 parts moss and 1/4 parts perilite. this is what i have my seedlings in now. it seems to have verry good drainage and retains a fair amount of moisture in the peat moss so i think it will work out well but any comments on this mix will be appreciated.

solo cups

light fixture and Y adapter. had to mod the fixture a bit to get both lights to fit into it with the Y but it looks good now

and thats about it for supplies right now. i will be buying some 2.5 gal pots for thier final growing container, as i plan on vegging till 1 ft i think they should be sufficient.

for nutrients i will most likely be using miracle grow ( i know i know but i had decent results and its cheap) probally a 10-10-10 for vegg and Miracle grow bloom booster 10-52-10 for flower. i will start nutes at 6 inch tall and might not even use a vegging nute as the perilite and peat moss are both enriched with miracle grow so these guys should have plent to get started.

my water is well water, havent had many issues with it yet the PH is around 6.2-6.8 (just tested it with a aquarium water test strip lol) also speaking of aquarium, i have a fish tank that grows a ton of algea, would it be a good idea to water thes plants with the water i remove from a gravel vac (gravel vac is when you remove all the fish waste from the gravel in the bottom.

Everything sounds optimistic for the budget you're on man.
That's cool that you're just gonna do 1 promising female and give the rest off.
Just a thought, but if you do let her get to 1ft before flowering,
you should lollipop the bottom couple branches to focus the energy upward
and get a heavier, more dense harvest instead of having a bunch of
fluffy popcorn nugs. Have you checked outthe book: Grow 8oz of bud
For Under $100? It's by SeeMoreBuds. I know your budget is well under that,
but he grows 3 plants using a few CFL's, no nutrients, and ends up with
a half pound

hello sir finally stopped by...alot of ppl on here be hating on bag seeds and cfls...if done right you could get something like this

the first 2 at 3 weeks the second 2 1 is on day 11 and the other is day 4 of 12/12 and are currently sleeping......nice thread bro i will keep it going with updates

this is more of an experiment than anything i just want to check out what CFL's can do.
i definatly plan on having more lights on them for flowering stage and im not sure if im going to wait till they are 1ft or not, going to see how the LST and topping goes they may never end up being over a ft tall but i am shooting for around 1 ft 6 in.

this whole thing should cost me under 100 bucks but still be fairly close. i have definatly thought about buying some better 2700k bulbs http://www.1000bulbs.com/category/400-watt-equal-compact-fluorescents-2700K/

will see how it goes, i am going to bust out a cardboard box Skinitti666 style for 12/12 so i have a little more controll

i have some seeds from a bag germinating now and will be ready for the new grow spot in the a.m

i topped one of my plants this past summer but it was just once, i want to messs with it a bit more and may even try the SCROG method, i have some of that plastic garden fence out back and some bullshit lumber kicking around could easily set something up to fit the dimensions of my chainsaw box.

they just popping out now so i have a few weeks to work on whatever it is im going to do.

8/8 seeds have poped above soil and 2 have shed thier shell..... woot

in about a week i will take the 4 weakest and dump them then put all my efforts into the 4 strongest.

Random seeds tend to be 50/50 male/female.

Hopefully you get a Strong female out of the 4 you're keeping.

I know when it comes to clones, that my ghetto looking ones turn out to be some of my strongest, best producers.

try and get an hps they have some cheap flood light style metal halides merc vapes and i think hps at home depot cause with the cfl once you get to flower your buds are gona be very airy if you want density you gots to up the light

miracle grow is fine and bagseed is good as long as you dont get herms or weird mutations but just get some good midds and germ the seeds but nice job on the veg stage looking healthy brotha

and if you wana find out the sex quick take a topping clone it and flower for a week under cfl in a rubbermaid container with perlite and mist it. cut a whole in the top of container and cover with saran wrap and tape it down then you got yourself a nice low budget cloner ive never lost a clone this way

looks can be deceiving the smallest of my two now once was the weakest looking out of the bunch in the end look where shes at now flowering with at least 16 colas on that bitch

all u have to do is get a dark bag and put it on one of the lower branches where no light can get to it and 12/12 it like that until u see the sex then leave it in veg until your ready to 12/12

Update: still only 2/8 that have shed thier seed case but i have 3 more showing green and should shed by the end of the day.

a little bit of work to do as i said i wont be using a cab i lied, im going to transform a vaccume cleaner box into a small cab to add some light reflection and keep my plants out of harms way (14 week old puppy in the house that loves to eat weed)

i will bepicking up a cheap can of matte white spray paint and painting the inside of the box with that. i also have to build a scrog screen to fit on the inside of the box so i can just lift the box off.

at first i didnt want a cab i wanted to try without but where they are in the house they will never hit flower with my house lights on all the time. BUT fortunatly i have the materials already to build a SCROG screen and the box the only thing i will need to buy is the paint so im still keeping it CHEAP$$$$

@ Itsallinthewrist. the point of this grow is to use CFL lighting and as little $$ as possible as i stated earlier i know that there are much better lights but this is an experimental grow to see if i can get a nice yeild for around 50 bucks and to re supply some of my stash from this past summers harvest, im almost out!!!

@Skintti & Itsall i will be flowering really shortly into thier growth and plan on topping all of them as they grow so when i get to the point where i need topick one it is ready to go into the SCROG screen
and the others will be distributed among friends (why they want these tiny plants is beyond me but they are noob growers and it makes em happy )

Update:
Dam i had to spend another 9$ so im to to a total of 34$ so far



got the SCROG setup and my box built lol, also got that fan hooked up just cant think of where i want to put it.

and heres some pics of the seedlings, im thinking they will all have thier shells shed by tomorow.

im probally going to have to fix some light leaks in cab once i put em into flower but for now should do the trick
