So my workings above are wrong? yes i could make a bigger gas tank but i need it to be worth doing! maybe power a much bigger light?
for a generator grow to be effective you need to go commercial; not portable. you'd need to run about 4,000w of flowering light to make it worth your while.

Do you know of anywhere that has info on this...i suppose it could be done if it truly is the only option

yes...well grows using generators. And methods of working out power consumption etc
most growers using generators aren't posting anything in online forums. they are more often than not larger commercial operations in non mmj states or countries. what you are trying to do is basically pointless. you have a property with NO electricity or plumbing probably and you want to grow with 600w there. in my opinion that's fucking pointless. grow at your house. build a cabinet and stick it somewhere. i don't know. there are probably 100 better alternatives than what you are trying to do.

you want links to grows using generators then go look for them. i don't have a clue where they might be. most guys don't talk about using generators in their grows like MH vs. HPS. generators are just the means from which you get power. i don't know anyone using a portable generator for a grow cause it's just not efficient. if anything, they are using continuous use or backup generators that are either wired to a subpanel or are running a light control box.

if you want to make it a commercial grow then look into propane generators. it will be a lot easier to get fuel for them and they will actually consume less when running on propane. check out generac units. they are standby propane and natural gas generators. it's gonna cost you money though. you can get a cheap portable diesel generator but you will have to fill the gastank on it probably once a day at least. they don't come with big gas tanks cause they are portable units. if you decide to go bigger you need a commercial unit like the propane ones at least. if not a continuous use diesel one. either way...be prepared to drop at least $5k on the generator and the wiring.

any generator manual will give you the fuel consumption for half and full load usage. you just have to look for it. i've set up hundreds of generators for spec homes, condo projects, etc... i've even done a few for grows. you need to think about doing somehing much bigger to make it worth it...or just give up the idea all together.

What I don't understand, is if the property is so removed that sound isn't an issue, then why is smell an issue. Just use the sun and be done with it.
