Barneys farm freak show 7 bladed leaves, self toppers, what's up?

Hey riu, i posted a similar thread yesterday regarding my pineapple express auto's and their self topping second growth, i've also read reports of accapulco gold, vanilla kush and pineapple chunk showing wierd growth and mutations, i personally have one pineapple chunk that grew like a palm tree lol i was going to stop there until checked the cupboard thismorning and 2 of my 3 lsd are growing 7 bladed fan leaves at a steady pace from the 8th nodes upwards, is this normal or is there something not right going on at barney's?

number of fingers or blades per leaf pretty much means nada honestly.. i've seen some with only 3. some 5, some 7's, some 9's and a few 11 and even had my sour cream from dna go up to 13 fingers.. but yah, the number of fingers doesn't really mean poo, just looks cooler the more there are in my eyes, lol..

my opinion of anything from barneys farm is poor grew some pineapple chunk out a few month ago/femanized,not 1 pheno the same 1 of 6 went hermie ,and poor bud formation light and fairy

I just had to chop a Barney's Acapulco Gold, 4 weeks in it went hermie. Also have a Barney's Laughing Buddha going, hope it doesn't hermie also. A late hermie is one thing, but a sativa 4 weeks in would be nothing but trouble.

Sorry op for going off topic, but do you have a journal for that laughing buddha? That's on my list for next grow. Interested in seeing it in action. Sorry to hear about the hermie.

I don't have a journal of this grow, but you can pick my brain. She was a fast grower, a bit hard to clone but I managed. Doubles when switched to flower (bigger than I wanted)...large and filling in at 5weeks but still has a good deal of time to go as a sativa. I will go get you a pic, but it will be under hps lighting so won't be great.

You people with hermies have light leaks. im 6 weeks 1 day 12/12 Violator kush and all is well.

Barney's Laughing Buddha at 5 weeks under HPS lights. I need to catch the lights just before coming on or just after to get some pics that makes sense...but here is a tease. She is a bit leggy...but looking good!

never doubt a mutant...they can sometimes be the most potent of the bunch...ive had some ugly ass mutants that the final product would knock anyone on their ass.

When you only get one morph in the batch, and you know you don't have light leaks......you have to look at genetics. I have had many successful crops from my setup without problems except for this one lone seed from Barney's.
I am so sure I am not even keeping her clones as it will just happen again, she is not stable. Someday you will get a morph from seed, knowing you have no other stress going on...then you will understand.

Stress? How many leaflets per fan is there supposed to be? I have a plant that had only 5 blades on up after heavy HST/Super Crop. It eventually went back down to 1 leaflet on the top of the colas and is still flowering.

Only time i ever had anything herm on me, is when i got careless in my first experimental grow and had light leaks, temp issues, lockout problems and only had one plant on me herm also. it has allot to do with how stable the strain is, you know, is it finicky is it tough and can handle mild stress.
Which strain of barneys was it?

One with a reputation for doing exactly what this one did....Acapulco Gold. I have read other folks having the same issue with this strain, have heard a lot of such issues about Barney's, but this is the first that went morph on me.

I have crossed my own before and had a few unstable crosses go morph...years ago...but this is the first brand name seed that has ever done it to me. I have some Greenhouse seeds stashed away also that now I am not so sure I want to grow...I hear they are even worse.

Been doing this off and on for 30 years, always new things to learn, but in this case I truly believe it was an unstable strain...not just a touchy one.

Yeah didnt hear much about that strain, but i heard their blue cheese, and pineapple chunk suck also, Violator kush seems real stable, not only for my self, but for all who have grown this. Really maybe about 15% of their strains suck, but the other 85% kick ass.

Laughing Buddha seems to be holding up, I also have a LSD and Blue cheese from Barney's to try.....crossing my fingers.

After giving them much bigger pots, more room and trimming them up i must say i've been hasty to judge these strains. Granted they seem unstable and finicky to begin with but at about 5 weeks they come good, leaves stand up and start thinning on the chunk, side branches on the lsd start fattening up and the fan leaves explode and the pineapple express auto's are so sweet and stinky, like pineapple sherbert, so frosty they glow under the hps on a side note all 5 pheno seedlings showed sex already at 5 weeks and the chunk smells like a very weak version of the express auto but it is only vegging atm however the lsd absolutely reek! More than the auto's in full flower, didn't need a filter for them yet but the lsd is forcing the purchase, in veg! Never smelt a plant even close to this in veg, competes with some in flower! Barney's makes no mention of this, anyone with experience?

Hi guys , I got some Violator kush from barneys on the go at the moment no sign of it going hermie yet , Fingers crossed... thanks for the heads up on the other strains

I grew VK, no problems. Definately 2 phenos though. Used 5 fem seeds and all came good but only cloned from shorter pheno due to scrog setup. 2nd time (from clones) did produce 1 seed but probably my fault as I put it through hell in a loft grow through winter and didn't have a lot of time to check on it. Must have missed a banana. 18oz off a 250MH veg/ 600w hps in those conditions will do me.

I was gonna get some seeds from barneys the other day untill i went with some lemon skunk from greehouse seeds and i decided to tsety one and its growen but the first set of true leaves are like stuck to the the leaf things that come before the first ture leaves lol
I sprayed it with a light mist coz at first there was part of the in side shell stuck and stoping it opening up untill i gave it a light mist, the first set of true leaves havn't opened yet how long should i give it before i end up binning it?
