I've been reading here a while, but have no clue what my old password was... Anyway, I wanted to post because I've just germinated four Tangerine Dream seeds. My first seeds from Barney's (for which I was super hyped after 15 yrs of reading High Times), and they seriously blow donkey dick.
I think this is my 6th or 7th crop, and I have never had a seed not germinate or be weird - it's always been a matter of removing weaker plants for me. I started four Cataract Kush (all four are rockin' on their third set of leaves 12 days later) and four Tangerine Dream in paper towels twelve days ago, and two of the TD have one set of leaves, one hasn't sprouted even thought it popped, and one has some super creepy inbred thing going on where the stem doesn't grow - it's just the seed leaves opened up at growing medium level and doesn't get taller. WTF, Barney's?
So overall, huge let-down. I set two backup Dinafem seeds to germinate yesterday, assuming they'll take the place of the crap Tangerine Dreams, so I'm reasonably covered in terms of yield. However, that screws up my schedule for this whole grow a bit, so it's a hassle and a half. I read all the posts in this thread before posting this, so I saw the really amazing accounts of the finished product, and quite honestly I would have bought the seeds knowing what I now know, but it would have been cool if Barney's mentioned a crap germination rate with a great payoff when they do go right (given that the only other account here of germinating the seeds is consistent with my experience) so that I could have added my extra two seeds at the outset. If the healthy germination rate is 50%, I'd simply prefer to have that information in advance so I can account for the failures at the outset.
We'll see how they go. The last time I promised a grow journal, I ended up with better weed than anticipated, smoked it, and never got around to documenting anything. I mention that just so you're informed before asking for one...
