Bannanas!!???

The other day when i was reading a random forum off of a pot site from google.......hold up, WHAT??.....it said that if you get 2 green bananas, put them as is inside around the rim of the pot, the gas it realeses is good for the plant . u keep it there untill it turns black, then get a fresh one. Not only is the gas good, it is a proven fact it makes the plants hormones go wacko and have a bettewr chance of being female:joint:
 
well part of that makes sense because of the potassium in the bananas.. so i believe it.. i dont know about the part about it determining the sex of the plant.. i thought the sex was predetermined by the seed... unless you end up w/ a hermie...
 
Unless you ground the bananna up, or at least chopped it up and put it in the soil, the potassium would never get to the plant. As for the gas, I find that hard to believe also. I am sure that if I thought for 3 minutes, I could think up something to start a wide spread following on something that helps weed grow.

But who knows, I surely do not, I have never stuck a bananna with my plants,, never would either, one wrong move and fruit flys city. I would place money this guy was trying to see how many people he could infest with fruit flys.
 
That is true.The banana contains potassium and when it decomposes the gas that exudes from the banana helps the plant by enhancing the formation of starches,sugars,and those lovely oils that we love to smell.
 
When the fruit decomposes, (ROTs) this is when the flys arrive. But go for it, and let me know how it worked. Hope it does well for you. I still will never try it. Still not as bad as the one guy in here trying to get everyone to piss on the plants for Organic Nutrients.
 
Man,ya gotta do some reading.Theres a thread on RIU or ICMag(not sure)where a guy SWEARS he knows how to feminize seeds or create more female seeds with BANANAS..and alot of guys agree.The gas that the banana gives as it decomposes is ethylene,which is a chemical substance that causes many fruits and veggies to ripen faster..infact it is widely used by farmers to mature crops fast...

Now,the method was sticking the FRESH banana peels(2)into a ziplock bag...and wrap the seeds with paper towels..cus the seeds CANNOT touch the peels..only absorb the ethylene that the peels give as they mature and rotten...

Open the bag once every day to exhasut the stale air..kinda like curing!!

Change the peels every few days,so they dont COMPLETELY ROTT!!!

Doing this for a week or two GREATLY increases female plant ratios...maybe even 100% FEMALES!!!!!!The ethylene in effect,feminizes the seeds,plus banana peels are cheap,sometime free,and hella easy to get!!!!!!

well you said that ethylene causes them to ripen faster...so what does that have to do with it being female??

Treatment of hempseed with ethylene gas will increase the resulting number of female plants by about 50%. Ethylene is produced by certain plants (i.e., bananas, cucumbers and melons), and these can be used to treat hempseed in a simple manner. About two weeks before you plan to sprout the seeds, place them in a paper bag or envelope and put that in a plastic bag with the peels of a ripening banana or cucumber. Replace the peels after a couple of days, and change the bags to prevent mold.
- When hempseed is treated with the female hormone estrogen, percentage of females that are produced will increase by about 10%. Dissolve a birth control pill in water and soak the seeds overnight in the solution. After the initial soaking, continue to treat the seeds by sprouting them on a paper towel soaked in the solution.
 
Read man!!I was saying that ethylene makes the BANANA ripen faster,but it increases female plants if the seeds are treated to it.........
 
Could methane gas maybe help? If so I have a free supply of that.

The gas you speak of is used in large rooms full of fruit to force them to ripen faster. It is very poisons. But at that low dose, no big deal. As for making feminized seeds, that would be GREAT!!!!!

Now that I might give a try in a sealed bag. But not around my plants.
 
I will make a banana smoothie for the plants about 4 times throughout the grow, they dont seem to mind it one bit. I just throw a whole banana with the peel into the blender, add some water and liquify it. Empty it into my watering container to break it up and water the plants with it.
 
Yeah,but watering it wont make them more likely to be female plants...its just like a nutrient boost woth all the pottassium...anyways theres only one way to find out right?? We as a people gotta try it out,and then report our findings to the world....imagine being able to feminise seeds in our home,with everyday fruits??Sounds good huh??!

The ethylene is def wrth noticing though,as its a proven substance that has a unique effect on plants! To banana,it ripens them extremely faster than without it..and it MADE CUCUMBER SEEDS FEMALE!!!!So why not OUR seeds?A proven experiment where the method I described earier was done to cucumber seeds,and they all turned out female...

Sorry if Im talkin' shit,cus Ive never seen the actualy experiment,I jsut read about it....I guess someone gotta try it out.Like if you have 20 seeds,use 10..and then apply this method on the other seeds for like 2 weeks....
