Bang for the buck

Hey guys/girls, im setting up an extra grow 2x2 for some in between grows from my other room to keep the jars full. Right now I've got a mars hydro ts2000 white led for my other room, im wondering though what the best option to kick a 2x2 into beast mode besides a mh or hps light. Any suggestions? Im new to the cob and strip world...anyone here have any 2x2 experience? I appreciate any comments. This is my mars grow, mag deficiency has them a little off green first week flower. Any suggestions are appreciated, thanks guys!

Thanks guys, i have looked into the hlg and they seem pretty kick butt. Dont these seem to be pretty close to the mars hydro ts1000?

Go with the Quantum Board these other guys mentioned. Best bang for your buck. You wont regret it. There's literally no better option without doubling the cost.

I've seen some decent pics of Mars grows but haven't tried one. I would choose the HLG if it was me. I love mine. I have 2 260's Rspec's, a 135 Rspec, and 3 HLG 100's. But the Mars will produce buds too. They have giveaways for the Mars lights on here, and if I ever win one I'll compare them.

Best bang for your buck is going to be to keep that light as close to the plants as you can without burning them.
They say they use epistar smd diodes with a pretty decent spread of different k ratings, should work fine for a 2x2 space imo.

What kind of yields are you guys pulling with these hlg quantum boards? From my understanding the only difference from the mars is the offbrand leds verses maybe the samsung diodes for example...is that correct or am i missing something. Just like everyone else yield is king

Samsung LM561C diodes & meanwell driver on the HLG > anything ever from mars. At 135 watts you're getting 33.75 watts per sq ft. Yeah that's what's good.

Thanks for the input guys. Im a noob with these leds, a lot of misleading info out there! Im used to the hps and mh and it seems these led companies try to compare but im not sure if its comparable. I guess ill find out. Lol. Ill look more into the hlg. What are you guys thinking vs cobs?

The diodes in the HLG boards are more efficient, and therefore produce more actual light per watt. It's cheaper than the Mars, as well as being higher quality. I'm no Mars hater, and for anyone who has one of their newer white fixtures, I'm sure they're absolutely fine. But between those two, I would always go HLG myself.

Esit: The v1 kit is cheaper, but the R spec is a bit more. If you can afford it and are curious about added reds, go for it. Otherwise, the v1 is still very competitive, performance-wise.

I know i can look this up but just wondering, does the hlg use uv and ir?

No UV in QB's, but you can buy separate UV leds if you want. I'm actually experimenting with my QB's and cmh together. My QB's worked great though alone, without the UV, just not as frosty.

Do yourself a favor and lurk the quantum grows on RIU .... look at the Rspec

Im looking into both this and the rspec right now. Am i assuming correctly that the 4000k spectrum would be best? Looks like hlg only offers this in 3 and 5...any experience with this?

I would pick the Rspec if you plan to use it for flowering too.

3000k with 660nm ( r spec boards ) great from start to harvest ( popular kelvin option )
4000k ( a little more blue spec ) - tighter nodes / better veg / flowers well too.
3500 k boards are available ( also a great setup )

Look at the QB 96s too .... powerful light engines . ( I added uv ) but you get the idea .
Ridiculously easy to DIY into any config , either single or multiple .

Also look at the new HLG 225 ... a powerful single that can be run up to 250w by itself .
