Banana Kush

Not Banana OG.
Have been looking for years, also if someone else can give me a more definitive background on the strain while I try to piece it together. I first tried the strain in Phoenix, AZ about 15 years ago and it definitely came from Cali, anyone growing it around them know the Breeder? Can’t get a reply back from either Orgnkid or Dankonomics. I know jaws and dank have ibls of banana Kush but out of stock everywhere I can find. I’ve tried 4 clone varieties and nothing compares so if you know a place with a verified cut that would be awesome. I don’t want a hybrid, I don’t feel like paying 100s of dollars to have to work 4 seeds with that pheno type into F2s, an IBL, F2+, or BX_. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also White Label is a herm monster. I’ve tried their line 2 times and still have like 50 seeds of theirs I’m not very motivated to get into. Didn’t find what I was looking for.

Chances of finding a 15 yr+ old strain with a similar name to another quite well known cut is going to be extremely difficult if you dont know who even bred it. Let it go buddy.

The problem is there are 3 people who take credit for it. I just want to know the original breeder so I can play with their IBL. Is Dank actually the original Breeder? I have seeds around that old so I do not believe in giving up. Hoping for someone growing in the Cali area around then or someone familiar with the lineage to chime in.

I grew up in socal where lotsa names came before the "Alleged creator" stories claim they originated.
We had piff way before NY but we called it purple haze.
We called really dank bud " OG " years before anyone else applied it to a specific cut or strain.
Banana is a common terp complex so I would bet theres been 100 different banana kush throughout the states.

Jaws is solid people. Banana og and banana Kush might have the same creator or even be the same thing. Crockett’s timeline doesn’t add up, they even say they had to change the name to private reserve because it already existed they weren’t established until 2009 and this was 15 maybe 14 years ago so it would’ve had to been very close but they are Cali based waiting on them. So it’s between O.K., Dank, & Crockett.

Those are some real gems. There isn’t gonna be anymore of those anytime soon if ever from jaws. That line came from o.k.

I know this is old but I also have a pack of the Jawz IBL also dated from 2016, I got them last year though, was a little disappointed by the age.

People are too funny. Hammerhead gave these away as freebies. The significance is that there has only ever been 2 people to work the know Chiquita Banana gifted to Utopia farms. A forum member by the name of RB26 (the owner of Utopia farms before he sold it) and Hammerhead who received it from RB26.




Hammerhead donated these seeds due to herm issues but reading over the thread stable phenos can be found.



Banana Update: There is a banana Kush that predated any known Breeder I can find, It was called the NorCal cut. Presumed lost.

I’m going to do a seed increase using the Jaws F10 and donate as long as hammerhead is cool with it. I know jaws isn’t making anymore Banana Kush. Orgnkid told people he was going to drop his own banana seeds. Most people running the Banana OG gear dropped it at this notice. That was about 2-3 years ago and still nothing.

RB26 ran the clone only Chiquita banana since 08-09’. So either way the CBanana would be and S1 of at the latest an 09’ Banana Kush. Since somatic mutations don’t pass to seed at least I can hope to find some 15~ year genotypes of banana. I’m doubtful selfing further will decrease the herm tendency since the original clone only did not actively display this trait.

It only cost me about 50 USD for my pack of CBanana. I traded (not here) for a pack that normally retails at 100 Euros for the CBanana. Showed them this photo before we finalized (2500 CBanana) to be transparent and they thought it was funny.

The only pack I’m still looking for is from Dankonomics Ultimate Banana Kush IBL. It is in my opinion that Dankonomics story of banana Kush is true. He was the first to enter a Banana Kush into any cup and still doesn’t take credit for it. He states it was just a cut passed around Northern California (A Sativa dominant variant)


The first actual seed drop came from OrgnKid through his old company “Cali Kush Seeds”.
There are mentions of another that predated this as simply Banana by Elite or Apothecary. I can’t remember off the top of my head.

I'm from NY area and the piff is totally different from purple haze in every single way besides them both being haze.....first off it's not purple and has no purp genetics in it whatsoever....and the taste; the way it smokes and shit....not like anything purple.

So idk what you had but it definitely wasn't piff.

I’m using this thread as reference guide for my Banana Project so I don’t clog up my journal, so if we’re gonna argue about Piff/Haze in a Banana Kush thread can it be after I overload it with useless information for anyone but me on the first page?? I’m asking for a friend.

If you’re interested, the Utopia Chiquita banana clone is available from Fireside via strainly.
I grabbed it from him a few years ago, the banana terp is decent but not super strong.
However the potency is pretty impressive, I’d give it an 8.5 or maybe a 9 on good batch, mixed head and body so pretty functional.
Quick flower at about 60 days decent yielder.

The bract structure on that plant is amazing. I wasn’t aware Chiquita Banana was circulated at all.

Banana Peel Genetics has a pack called Miss Chiquita (Chiquita Banana S1 x Banana OG F3) that is sold out everywhere for now but that’s along the same line of what I plan to make.

There is another company selling Chiquita Banana Seeds and they are remakes not actually using the Clone only from Utopia. Philosopher Seeds I believe.

Hammerhead is making C.banana s2 and IX seeds. He mentioned this on IG. Pics are posted..

I've been on the lookout for a good banana as well. There are many crosses that I've seen but I want as close to the source as possible. I just popped some Banana Kush from Best Coast seeds and banana coffee from California seedbank - although that one isn't really what I'm going for but it was a freebie so why not?
