Ballast question

Hello new to group looking for an answer. I got a great deal on some hoods t32 light hps like 12 in so tube light anyway my question is does it matter what type of ballast i buy to run these things as long as it matches the wattage of the bulb..

Usually folks do it the other way around. Decide on the wattage then buy the bulbs.

Lol yea it runs t32 bulbs i have 600 to 1000 bulbs for it just trying to fig what ballast would be good for it i know at least up to 1000
