Baking soda throwing of my EC rating

Hey, so im trying to give my plants some food cuz they look STARVIN'

These clones are small so im trying to give it ~400 ppms of 15-30-15

When I do that, the pH drops from ~8.7 to 6.0.

So I use baking soda, and get it back up to 6.7 (im in soil). Then I stick the EC meter in and it says 750 PPM.

Obviously its the baking soda making the ppms fly sky high apple pie but is there actually 700ppms or is that just off and its really still the 400?

Not sure and i wanna feed soon so thanks for the quick replies in advance

I wish you luck.

meters are great, I use them. Your best meter is the plant. As you said, they look like they are starving.

If you are in veg, 15-30-15 is not the best. for veg go 30-15-15. They need nitrogen, not phosporus in beg. P is for flowering. Use 15-30-15 if u r flowering tho.

The easiest way to know if you are feeding enough is to get slight tip burn on yourbiggest leaves. If you dont see a few burned tips, you arent giving them the max amount they can take.

Here is a great example. This guy pushed the envelope a bit, but as you can see, the part of the plant you will smoke is 100% unaffected and healthy. This is biology 101: a plant will sacrifice its leaves without question to protect its most valuable resources (the flowers)

so get a high N solution and feed. check each day until you see the burn. if you dont increase amount untill you do. once you get the burn back off nutes a bit if you get more burn than expected water with pure water or flush a bit. These plants are hardy. Listen to your girls, they will show you what they need.

why are you trying to feed cones, they cant use any nutes unless they have grown legs and have reverted back to the vege cycle.

you should also try to get your hands on GH ph up. Baking soda is not good for your plants. it can cause diffencies.

LOL

man

sorry i was just trying tyo be brief and i know how to grow

The clones are about a month into flower

Sea of green, i veg them for 2 weeks and flower them

These 3 clones that i am talking about here werent taken care of, they got root bound in the beer cups and never really grew past 6-7 inches tall, so i figured i would flower them

theyre 20 days into flower, and im trying to give them 300ppms on their first feeding. My tap water is seriously like 8.6 - 8.7 pH. When I throw the 300 ppms of 15-30-15 (because i am flowering!) the pH of my water hits low 6's and im growing in soil so i cant have 6.0 - 6.1 . When I put the baking soda in the mix to up the pH to 6.8, i put my EC meter back in and the PPM reading is around 700!

So my question is, would it be considered 700PPMs or 300PPMs? i know it sounds a little retarded but im wondering if the baking soda will have affected my feedings by 400 MORE PPMs OR if its just throwing my meter off because there is more substance in the water now?

I hope I explained that right

If you are reading 300ppm before adding baking soda, logic says thats the nute reading. I wouldnt worry about how much the ppm rises after adding baking soda in regards to your nutes. Logic also says you are then putting 400ppm of bs in there. If you believe baking soda is not good, I would worry.

Your local hydro store should be able to recommend a ph up that is safer. I ran into the same problem with tiger bloom. drops the ph to 5 to 6. I stopped using it and went with a ph balanced nute. Why is it fox farms ph balances beastie bloomz but doesnt ph balance TB? *scratching head.*

I am an old school grower. Back in the day we used miracle grow and superthrive. We always got good results. In this new world of super nutes and BallzOutBloom (I made this name up wouldnt be surprsied to see it on the hydro shelf tho) I get cornfuzzled easily. think I may switch back. cheaper and no scientific degree needed.

They are weeds after all.
