baking away PM to smoke?

I decarbed some buds to make edibles because of possible mildew but then I grabbed a decarbed nug and put it aside to smoke, assuming that whatever mildew would be on there would be killed by the heat, right? Or am I missing something.

The heat from decarbing will kill the PM but not the spores, which can survive 500F.

You could use it for edibles but I wouldn't smoke it because the spores might inoculate in the lungs.

The spores are everywhere in the environment. You're inhaling them now.

We never read of anyone on this site having problems, I've been searching for a more definitive answer.

"When you inhale tiny, airborne mold spores, your body recognizes them as foreign invaders and develops allergy-causing antibodies to fight them. After the exposure has passed, you still produce antibodies that "remember" this invader so that any later contact with the mold causes your immune system to react."

"Farmer 's lung is a noninfectious allergic disease that is caused by inhaling mold spores in the dust from moldy hay, straw, or grain. This debilitating disease disrupts the normal function of the lungs, where oxygen enters and carbon dioxide exits the bloodstream."

"The mold spores can colonize (grow) inside lung cavities that developed as a result of chronic diseases, such tuberculosis, emphysema, or advanced sarcoidosis. The fibers of fungus might form a lump by combining with white blood cells and blood clots. This lump or ball of fungus is called an aspergilloma or mycetoma."

Your best bet was right after chop to wash in h202 wash.

Your just too late now. I wouldn't advise it.
I did that and pretty thoroughly but it didn't seem to get it all. Now, I don't actually see any PM but can see it here and there if I use a scope. Or rather, I see stuff that looks ambiguous. I guess it's not safe though. So tincture it is.

Yea I mean if your not allergic your probably fine. But man we as a human species still don't know the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what fucks us up internally.

Better safe than sorry.

We were discussing mold on marijuana and I looked up papers to say what is what. It seems that you can kill the mold but you end up with compounds that are not human friendly.

Side note, Powdery mildew is a fungus, not a mold. I still don't think you should smoke it.
Almost everything I've seen focuses on aspergillus.
This might help.

The spores are in the air you're breathing right now. They're on food too. Same with the mold spores that cause farmer's lung. It's the concentration, strain of fungus, and how healthy you are that matter most.
