From seed they will grow 2 nodes at a time, even with each other, once they begin to reach maturity you will notice that they start to space out a bit, this pic should help.

Ahh I see, much appreciation. So about that time would be good to start flowering? I have also taken down all of the tin foil and put them in a larger closet. Still don't have another lamp but I switched out the light in the closet to fluorescent, plus the hanging lamp over the plants themselves are a fluorescent. Will the added closet light help them grow at all you think?

cfls are pretty much ineffective at more than a foot away, they need to be at about 2-3 inches away, as far as optimum point to start flowering, that all depends on your degree of patience and amount of space, just remember they about double in size when flowering
