Bagseed from Thai Stick - worth it?

Just wondering if the bagseed in some Thai Stick I had lately was worth growing, if only just to experiment, or is Thai stick usually made from schwag? The smoke wasnt too bad, but nothing strong or cerebral....:eyesmoke:

From what I understand theres likely to be few females, and even then most will probably be hermi's....

Four out of five of my current bagseed grow look to be females (just started showing pistils this week)... so I'm happily not sure that is true. :bigjoint:

If you are new to growing - I'd use bagseed from a bag you liked... and use that money saved for equipment that will help you throughout future grows as well. No point in throwing money into the seeds you will probably end up torturing (or even killing) as you go about learning.

But i'm talking bagseed from Thai Stick. As I understand it Thai Stick is made using Thai, which is notorious for being hermi, even if initally they show as females...

thai strains are usualy hardcore sativas that without very strong lights will not finish indoor.
outdoor they will take a long time to finish too.

If it was good herb you might wanna try growing it. In bagseeds you have a much higher chance to get a hermi as seeds in a controled enviroment usually caused by hermies. If only a few seeds were found, that probably was the case.
If it was a medium quality herb I wouldn't bother growing it for any reason.

Well it was average thai stick, but heavily seedy. I've got about 10 seeds from a 1/4 oz. I've recently set up a closet grow with CFL's and was looking to test it out with the bagseed. Havent had the opportunity to grow in 5 years or more so looking to get my set up working well before I invest in any real goodness....

Not sure then - if refined genetics (might be bagseed, but you know the strain) are going to hermie on you, and bagseed is supposed to hermie on you then no, I wouldn't bother growing anything and would stick to buying.

Still, hermie fears aside - you have the same choice: throw money into seeds you may very well kill, or bagseed it for a learning grow and spend the money on start-up equipment that will serve you past the learning phase.

I would probably go with an indica dominant strain at first though. Unless you have a lot of patience.

Just my opinion.

Cheers for the advice SableZen, much appreciated. I might just invest in a cheap Indica, or even buy some single seeds (if the websites i've seen are legit), probably feminised although I know these are still not guaranteed female.

Hey I was just searching Thai Stick - and there's a lot of confusion apparently, as any strain could have been grown, shishkabobbed, and labeled Thai Stick for selling.

So just from what I can gather online quickly - without knowing the strain used (or even if it was a landrace strain) there is no way to say it will be more-so or less likely to produce hermies right?

you do not want to grow a thai with CFLs. It will strech like hell and if it ever finish flowering it will take AT LEAST 15 weeks.

Get a cheap indica dominant seed that do well under low lights (nirvana?). The electricity saved alone should pay back for the seed.

You could either get a single fem seed and use it if you have the basics down and most likely won't kill it. Or you can get a bunch if you plan on sacrificing some.

2.50$ a seed isn't that much.

Hahaha. Now i'm really in two minds. Do I chance the seeds on the off chance that they arent Thai anyway and wont stretch, or put them away and invest in something better.

Now that I think of it the smoke wasnt what i'd expected of thai, more a of a body stone. But then true thai stick is dipped anyway right?

Yeah, was just reading up some - covered in opium or dipped into hash oil. Speaking of which, the whole hash oil thing sounds gooooooood...

I've never had opium, but i'm guessing this wasnt dipped in it, did smell almost like a nice pollen mixed with skunk tho so my guess is some kind of hash oil. So on that basis i'm going to assume this wasnt Thai and more of an Indica than a Sativa, therefore i'll chance the seeds....
