Bad smell at the drying stage! (low temp)

Hallo
My condition is that:I am now at the 5day of drying. I am drying in low temperature 12.5C -14C and myplants are hanging in a closet.
My problem now is that from yesterdaythey started to smell bad. Until yesterday they were smelling very nice.
You think it is the temperature thatcaused that? (its hard for me to make a warmer environment)

dont worry too much about the smell it will change as they dry you will get that lovely potent smell back if you cure the weed properly after its finished drying. drying in a cool climate is ideal they dry more evenly as long as the humidity isnt too high as this can cause the buds to rot....

Thanks !you just have made me feel peacefulagain... I thought that they were starting to rot...

i dry mine at between 40-50% humidity and aroud 14-16 degrees c between 5-7 days drying then cure till you get the taste and the aroma how you like it.i get some great results of coarse others all have there own opions and perfect rooms but u got to work with what you got if too humid a bowl of salt in the room will bring humidity down hope this helps.

Is the bad smell, like a stanky skunky smell, or a musty smell? Musty is bad, and while I haven't seen it during drying, was a red alert to visible mold shortly after during growing stages.

  • [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]its like a musty smell... now it isn't so intense but still when i open the closet it smells a bit!
    (i will put some salt in there to lower humidity)

just another thing do you have a good fresh air supply where your drying ? this is also key for drying properly

All I can suggest is keep your humidity pretty neutral. 40-50%. And make sure you have fresh air flow and it's not too confined. High humidity with high temps and still air is a recipe for mold/mildew. The farmer i go through lost the top of one of his main colas and just found out last night when I was over there because it was so dense that when I put it in a jar he forgot to burp it and it started to rot. Keep those 3 things in mind and you should do great. Let us know how it turns out.
