Away for 10 days, how to dry?

i'm leaving the country for 8 days, right after i harvest. i have a couple of options for how i dry, can anybody with experience recommend the best method. i don't want mold but also i don't want to over dry.

1) hang dry stalks in an open, dark room for 10 days

2) hang dry stalks in a closet with the doors half open for 10 days

3) hang dry for 1 1/2 days (individual buds, not the stalks), then place in a paper bag for 8 days. very loosely packed, not even stacked, just laid out so they aren't even touching each other.

thanks.

I would get a large cardboard box and string fishing line or twine inside making rows
at diff hieghts. hook your buds on the lines. close up the box and come back to tried bud ready to be jar cured.

cardboard box it is then. how full should the box be for a slow drying process but not susceptible to mold?

well i went with the closet hang for 10.5 days. my bud is jarred up now, but it was really crispy and flakey, also falling apart when rougly handled. the stems, however didn't snap completely. there was still a little bend to them, particulary the outer skin of it.

have i dried them out too much? do i need to throw them into a bag with orange peels? when should the jars be open after the inital storage to check if its too dry?

btw, theres still a fruity smell to the buds, i don't know if that would matter in deciding if they have been overdried.

Sounds like the outsides got a bit too dry, lightly squeeze a few buds to see if they are moist on the inside still. I would have suggested to dry the plant with the most amount of branches (to retain as much moisture as possible), but its too late for that. Add a bit of lettuce each day (till the buds are re-hydrated) to each jar. The orange peel will work too, but throw the flavor to a more orange taste, the lettuce will re-hydrate but not change the natural flavor/aroma of the ganja.

Cardboard absorbs moisture...I guess if you mean a large sealed CB box then that might prolong the drying process. I say that because the air would become equally hydrated within the CB, and the CB would slowly remove moisture from within, and keep dry fresh air entering to a minimum.

i hung the whole plant, and just trimmed the leaves. i don't have any oranges or lettuce at the moment, but i have carrots, i heard they work aswell, correct? how long should they be kept together? i was thinking overnight for 8-10 hours.

That why ya shoulda used a cardboard box.
yea bro thats why i recommended the CB box....cause u were gone for 10 days not the 5-7, thats how long i personally hang dry
for the most part my harvet was out of my control and i was only able to hang the whole plant with a satisfactory trim. i'm trying to save my buds now.

The moisture should even out when you cure.
how long do i need wait to see if there is moisture before i attempt to remoisture?

Once your buds are dry you can put them into jars to cure. Just burp a few times a day for 30 minutes.

did everything work out fine?
if your buds are still real dry take a cotton ball and put 1-2 drops of water on it then put the cotton ball in with your bag/jar of weed and it will put moisture back in the nugs

Yes a slice of carrot will work as well.

During your cure to check if they are getting re-moist take a few out of the jar after a few hours sealed up, and see if they are just as crispy. If they are add 2-3 slices of carrot each day (removing the old pieces) until you can handle your buds without them turning to shake in your hand.
