I figured in the wild it would be the opposite with a higher chance of females, because 1 male can pollinate hundreds of females. Whereas the females produces seeds which can fail to make it to spring as they get eaten or washed away.50% is the average no debate but if we consider field studies of marijuana in the wild direct correlations can be made between male vs female percentages.
As members have stated favourable conditions lean to a greater percentages of females. In the wild a lower female count would indicate bad conditions as more pollen is needed to ensure pollination and less females mean a greater chance of pollination and survival of the species.
More females means better conditions and population increase as more seed produced.
Plants have great adaptations to control population size and this is how marijuana flourishes in the good years and bunkers down in the bad.
Everyone gives me grief if i dont give the easy answers so i rounded the whole debate of to 5

Yer one male can fertilize lots of females but in a bad year who pollinates all your female if that one male is washed away in a flood.
More males ensures at least some pollen makes it to a female in a bad year, more females means less pollen and less chance.
Biology is full of these ratios, just consider how much sperm we make compared to female eggs, one egg in a sea of sperm has much greater chance that many eggs with just one sperm.
This stuff is easily googleable if your still in doubt.

I dont know, I noticed it but I guess I was mature enough to infer what he meant and not make a big deal out of it. So instead of a male/female thing maybe it is a mature, immature thing. Like pointing out everytime someone uses "there" instead of "their" but if you need a pat on the back.. here ya go PAT ON THE BACK.
When I was like 7 or 8 years old I used to tell this joke... If a plane crashes on the border, where do they bury the survivors? It was great back when I was 7 or 8.
