Lights & water system are a good start but....Got Ventilation, Carbon filtration, De-humidifying gear? Nutrient wise I do my best to change my reservoir weekly, 20 gallons worth of water, about 10-plus tablespoons of liquid foods a week. Ideally speaking, 8 weeks = 8 changes = 80 tablespoons nutrients. 2 gallons Nutrient = 512 tablespoons. Big deal eh? A gallon of the veg & a gallon of the flower stuff I use goes for about $50 each. A lot O' tablespoons full, many crops worth. (actually 6.4 crops can be fed on $100 worth of Tiger bloom, big Bloom & Grow big. ) On average pennies a day. Basic liquid organics aren't that expensive and will improve your plants health! Skip the commercial stuff & gimicks...NO Miracle Gro, Super Thrive, or VF-11 . Your first plant will pay you back immediately for the expense of organics. Try it eh?! Happy Gardening! Best wishes, GrowIT!

Depends what type of system,if your gonna build your own,how many plants you plan on growing, and what type of nutrients.

You are paranoid hehehe normal, but as long as you keep your odor in check, have everything stealthy and tell no one you'll be fine.I would suggest ebb and flow (flood and drain).I buy grow trays, that I find on Craigslist and use rubbermaid totes from home depot as reservoirs. For 6 plants a 2x3 tray would be sufficient a tote that holds 15-20 gallons......so a 25-28 gallon tote,200-400 gph submersible pump. Now for medium I use rockwool and hydroton. You need to figure what nutrients you want,I use botanicare nutrients. You need a ph and ec/tds meter to monitor ph levels and nutrient concentration levels. You can make your own Carbon filter, but you need some type of inline fan for the flowering period to use with a carbon filter, because they do get stinky.

but i could make this cheaper

ocuse this guy used the thing i was gonna get and ran into these problems
I just completed my 1st grow in a an ecogrower.....harvesting tonight. I started my babies from seed in the ecogrower.

I had six plants going and 5 were male! Horrible luck. I was so pissed! Although, my one Female is a champ. It looks as if she may reap 2.5 z's. All in all I like the ecogrower. But....

I have 2 problems with the ecogrower:

1. The plants crowd each other and thus block a ton of light to the lower leaves. On my second grow I will put a max of three plants in.

2. The grower is 3 feet tall so your little lady starts at a height of 3 feet which may limit your ability to grow a tall plant depending on the height of your room. My room has 10ft ceilings and I am hanging my light down about a foot from the ceiling which gave me about 5 ft of growing room. My lady wanted to be taller but I had to tie her up and trim that her bush.

Lastly, I must of purchased a defective unit bec. mine developed some hairline cracks at the bottom which leaked water (in the middle of flowering). I called GH (general hydroponics) and they not only sent me a new one with out a receipt but threw in a bunch of free nutes and a t-shirt to boot. Great customer service! I will be a loyal customer forever.

That's a small as system and you could make that with a tote and some net pots+drip sytem, air pump+airstone, very simple to make and hell of a lot cheaper, probably like 50 60 bucks
