I have not had a bad auto yet. Grown in organic mostly peat and coco and ammended. Least i ever yielded was 2, most was 9. Had several nice 6 and 7 plants. That dry weights and curing at 55-60 rh. Best strain has been buhhda mag. I want to try more ch9 strains. Had a freebie yield 7 and was 70-75 days. In 7-15 gallon pots

I've grown Afghan Kush Ryder.. only a single plant outdoors and it smelled like a Kush plant. But it had no buzz to speak of. This is a common theme with all the autos I've grown. Mind you my tolerance is way high. But still, there is weed that will do it for me out there. I haven't had good luck. You have some dedication to continue growing them and trying them out when there are so many good photoperiod lines that are superior in just about every way possible.

Think Different is Totally Dogshit just FYI. It gets a lot of hype, but it's trash. There are some auto lines I'd still consider trying out but I don't have room in my veg tent for them currently and probably never will. No big loss as my photoperiod plants are much superior product.

Auto's smoke 5x as much to get an inferior buzz
Anyone making a statement like that should try Ultraviolet by Samsara
Most of the fellas I know have been toking for 20+ years and where just blown away with the flavor and potency of that one

I've only sampled smoke from less than a half dozen autos [ Dinafem and Big Buddha ]. Nice, sparkly buds, but I hated the 'buzz' off them. Why not do non-ruderalis beans and go 12 / 12 from seed? You'd save electricity and likely have better smoke, no?
No/No autos 18/6 or better nothing less you dont have time on you hands.. average 70 day to hrv.

I've actually grown autos at 12/12, just because I had them on hand and was curious.
On the far left is auto Mohan Ram from Sweet seeds, she went through 21 days of 18/6 with the photoperiods, and then 59 days flower.
These three were last to ripen, this was my final closet grow with a 150 watt HPS.
There were three other plants that shared the 2x1.5' space, harvested earlier.

She ended up being a white widow pheno which was a total knock out, as were previous auto grows of mine.
It's always okay to experiment, the clear container was part of the little trial, too, which didn't appear detrimental.
She pulled 20gs in only 50 ounces of ocean forest.
Other strains pictured from left to right are HSOs Pineapple skunk as well as their Blue Dream.IMG_5838.jpg

I'm starting a new thread because ive got a lot of bad reviews on autoflowers and id like to share my experience with you guys.

I've been growing autos for a little over a year now and ive grown dozens of different strains. My first experience with autoflowers i was a little disappointed. It took me two months to grow from seed to bud but i had these little ass 6-7 inch plants with barely any bud. I was growing in 1 gallon pots. After much research i realized that since i was transplanting and growing in such small pots i was stunting the growth of the plants. Autoflowers have a predetermined life span so if its supposed to go from seed to bud in 70 days, if you transplant and shock or stress that plant its going to interfere with its grow cycle.

So finally after i reallized what i was doing wrong i immediately fixed the problem, i started growing in 3 gallon buckets and i stopped transplanting them, i just put them straight into a 3 gallon and let it do its thing. I got much better results this way, i wasnt getting the yield i hoped for but still it was pretty decent for an auto. I had almost given up hope completely, im like these autoflowers are a waste of time and the smoke isnt really that good either. (By the way i was growing New york city auto at the time from pyramid) So after i harvested my plants from my 3 gallon buckets i was anxious to see what my yield was, i was getting anywhere between 15 grams to a little under a ounce from these autos. Which isnt bad when your growing 20 of them but still it could and should be better when you factor in light, bucket size and many other things.

By this time i had completely made up my mind that i wasnt going to waste any more time with autos, i was getting low results with mediocre smoke. The only thing that impressed me was the time frame on the autos, i could practically have a harvest once a month when bud grows that quickly. I wanted to give them 1 more go, i picked different strains this go around, i wanted to pick some of the ones with the highest "Tested" thc content and with the highest yield. So i chose 3 different strains and i got them all from single seed centre. I went with the Afghan kush Ryder from worlds of seeds , Ak-49 from vison and northern lights from speed seeds.
They all ranged from 20-23% thc content and i thought this was pretty high for an auto.

I decided to grow the Afghan kush ryder in 7 gallon geopots, i put the ak-49 auto and northern lights in 5 gallon home depot buckets and i drilled holes in the side to mimick air pots and maybe stop plant circling to allow better root growth. I upgraded my light system, i was using 400 watt mh to veg and 600w hps to flower, im still using 400w to veg but now i use 1000w to flower. After germination i had a total of 22 seeds that germinated, 7 afgan kush ryder, 9 ak-48 and 6 northern lights. I fed regularly, once a week, i also watered once a week as well, i tried to give at least 3-4 days in between watering because i came to realize that autos love a wet/dry cycle. I used Foxfarm grow big, fox farm tiger bloom, molasses, rhino skin for these super thick ass stalks and branches im loving, cali mag of course and few other Humboldt county nutes.

I'm not 65 days in and im surprised like a motherfucker i must say! I dont know if its the different light or the bigger containers but i must say i have autos now that are about 3-4 feet! and surrounded in resinous buds, I have a few ak-49 plants that i can say without a doubt that ill be pulling more than 2 ounces, the afghan kush plants are about 1.5 feet tall but super bushy the whole plant is practically one huge bud, im starting to see the very dark red hairs appear, im very anxious for this batch to be done. As said before i have 22 autos growing and if my calculations are correct ill be pulling 2-3 pounds just from the looks of it. I could be wrong but i grow normal strains to and i must say the buds on the ak 49 plants are much bigger, the afghan kush ryder buds are bigger than my hand. Ive completely regained hope with these autos and when i chop in 15 days ill give you guys the final update with pics and everything! The ak49 will be my best yielder by far. They say its one of the stronger autos so im hoping its some good bud.

Leave me some feed back and let me know what you guys think!View attachment 3383286

Autos might be fast with big white buds but smoke isn't anywhere near good after growing close to a lbs of different strains I'm convinced autoflower is a waste of time and money. it was worth the try but very disappointed in quality

Yeah autos are all hype. No terps , smell , or taste. Some get big and pretty but most are inferior. Something about that ditch weed genetic that just ruins them

Not all autoflowering genetics come from ruderalis. Some African landraces are pure sativa and they autoflower. I've had many mom's and males flower on me in veg under 24hr lighting.

I would personally want to invest in autoflowers that show some potency(has to be post seeding due to their nature) and pollinate them with an autoflowering African sativa like Zamal, that would make an interesting autoflowering/semi-auto mix. I haven't found any autoflowering males in my Golden tiger yet, but if I do, I'll save the pollen and use it on some autoflower freebies, I've got 8 blue cheese autos from dinafem.
