Autoflowering Questions

The last time I bought seeds there were no autoflowering options, now the banks are littered with them. Having skimmed through various information about these strains I'm still not clear on the advantage of them? Especially given that they really can't be cloned, at least not in terms of a vegetative state.

Is there an advantage to flowering these girls at 24hrs? It seems that many folks use 20-4 or some other weird photo-period. Any help or insight would be great, I'm about to pull the trigger on a batch of new genetics.

autoflowering strains have several advantages, first off being that they all stay very short. which is ideal for small indoor grows, or being discreet. basically an autoflower strain skips the veg stage. they go from seed, to seedling, and spend an average of 14 to 20 days and go straight into flowering, very vigorously. and all this is done without a change in lights. most people do use a 24 on or a 20/4 schedule. but these strains will flower no matter what the lights are doing. and now with all the new genetics with them, they have been able to produce autoflower strains that will produce buds just as potent as any normal female strain, and although they may not yield as much as a 6 foot tall sativa under 1000 watts, but in optimum conditions, you will have a small compact beautiful potent ass plant and they usually go from seed to harvest in around 60 days. yeeeeaaaaa hit me back if u need more info

Thanks for the response. I didn't think about the size, obviously they remain smallish, that's definitely an advantage for limited grows. 60 days is fast for sure, these might work well on a startup grow to get some bud faster. Does the light make any difference in the bud size or is it driven more by the genetics? Those advantages aren't applicable to my situation so I'll stick with photo-period based genetics. Thanks again.
