Autoflowering outdoor grow - summer 2010 questions

Hey rollitup!*
Just joined here and am super happy to be part of what seems like an awesome community. You guys seem like a helpful crew and after hours of research and searching I still have a few questions. I have a slight dilemma, I am wanting to grow outdoors this summer for the first time but need to leave for university around September 3 or so.. I am able to possibly come back once or twice after that if absolutely necessary but it would be mch easier to have a crop done and harvested before late august. *This has led me to believe that autoflowering strains may be the solution to my problem. I haven't seen many posts or grow journals on successful autoflowering outdoor grows but am sure that it is possible and probably the key to my delimma.*
Here's my logistics:
I live in the lower part of Michigan that tends to get alot of sunlight and decent amount of natural rain
I am planning on growing 8-10 plants
I will be using fertilizer and nutes but am not sure which ones yet due to not knowing which strain
Can check plants daily and water as often as needed
Can afford most any outdoor grow setup but would like to spend the least amount required.*

My questions:*
Do autoflowering strains grow well outdoors? Most journals I've seen have been indoors

Any recomendation on strains based on my logistics?*
As of now I am looking at "easyryder" which is a lowryder #2 x ak47 cross - from attitude seedbank - would this be a good choice?

What would be the best time to plant if I'd like the harvest to be mid or early august and is that timeframe possible?*

Do fertilizer requirements change at all with autoflowering strains?

Any difference in potting materials?*

Any rough estimate on dry yield per plant assuming 8-10 hours of direct light and proper nutes?*

Any other tips or links would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks again rollitup

Auto flowering plants do just fine outside shit they'll prolly do better than inside auto flowering plants.. There are a few good choices for autoflowering strains such as FAST BUD and BIG DEVIL you can find em both on attitude I'm looking to nab some seeds from them within the week... But I did hear good things about that Lowryder Ak-47 auto.... I don't think your nutrients change you should know when your over fertilizing and when not giving it enough shit.... I heard for the lowryder your talking about 50 grams dried MAXIMUM.... For Fast Bud and Big Devil you get more bud prolly double that if not triple... So I would check those seeds out and see from there... Good Luck I'll keep following this thread... I started up a thread to just waitin for the weather to cooperate.... Oh yea and by the way I live right under you man in Illinois Good luck Stay HIGH!!!!:weed::leaf: PEACE

Hey man, I grew an Easyryder outdoors last summer. The link in my signature should take you to my journal. It's more at the end of the journal. I'm gonna start a couple more in a week or so.

Auto's should work perfect for your needs. Less than 3 months from seed to harvest. I'm probably gonna do a couple of separate crops between now and the Fall.

I just used FFOF soil, and went easy on the nutes. There's quite a few auto grow journals and resource threads on here, if you haven't checked them out yet.

I'm probably gonna purchase a different auto strain from Attitude. Last time I checked their site they were sold out of the particular strains that looked good.

Cheers!

Yeah auto flower work good outdoors if you take care of them.

I believe the best time to plant auto's outdoors would be May/June since these months have the longest days. Auto's need maximum sunlight to produce well.

I grew Auto Ak 47 last year outdoors. I grew about 4-5 plants per pot in 5 gallon pots. The plants got around 2ft tall and they produced close to an ounce of bud each. The one thing i learned from growing Autos outdoors is they seem to take longer to start flowering. It says 70 days from seed and its ready but outdoors its more like 85-90 days and its ready. The Ak47 is pretty mold resistant but if it rains for like 4 days straight when there budding your gonna get some mold. (Personal experience) If you have them in pots you could move them into the woods under a make shift shelter. I used the forbidden MG potting mix for my soil needs. I just mixed it with some other soil and it was good to go. If you have any more questions post away and i will try to anwser them the best i can.
