Autoflower questions

So i have never grown autos and was wondering about limiting their size. I currently have a auto i got as a random mystery freebie going and it is a perfect little 10 inch beauty in my veg area (small area). The plant is in a one gallon pot only about half full of soil (i thought it was gonna be a photo and planned to up-pot it later but it started to flower). SO i am thinking that this plant, which i topped and trained (thinking it was a photo), is perfect for trying to grow again since i have room in my veg area but i need it to stay small like this. My question is if i get more auto seeds can i expect most auto plants to stay small like this if i keep them in the same small pot or was this seed a dwarf? Why is topping generally not recommended for autos, seemed to work perfectly for this one?

The overall size of the plant depends on a number of factors. While genetics play a huge roll in that, other things factor in as well such as the size of growing container, nutrients, feed cycle, environment (temp and humidity), light source, etc.

You will hear all kinds of opinions on topping autos but I can say, with absolute confidence, that if you have a seed with good genetics and if you do it soon enough the plant will recover. It will keep the plant shorter and can increase the yield. As I understand it, the reason some growers don't like to top them is because of the nature of their lifespan. Stunting a plant in any capacity will cost it valuable days where it could be focusing its energy on growing nice, big buds. Since autos have a shortened lifecycle naturally, stunting can be detrimental if it's done too late or if too many branches are topped. That being said, I've topped plants and still ended up with very impressive yields from autos. This is a pic of the two main colas from a topped Candy Cane auto. This plant yielded 3+ ounces dry.

Ya, this little auto i have will produce at least 2 ounces, which doesn't sound like much but it is only like 10"tall and probably 8" wide. Productive little plant under 24hr of about 100 watts of T5.
