I don't know to much about autos. But from what I hear . . what gain does trimming an auto give ya as to letting it do its thing as an auto? Just curious. . I know why id do it on my regulars but just wondering.

I personally topped mine because I didn’t know they were autos. If I knew they were I wouldn’t have I don’t think.

You can clone autos, ppl on here will hit you with all kinds of reasons why this is impossible or dumb or whatever, but I've done this with pretty good success. Ur cuttings will not be autoflowers tho u can keep them in veg for as long as u want... From what I've seen, it's a pretty cool little trick to save an auto strain and keep the genes, I'm trying to figure out rn I'm about half way thru an experiment trying to see if the seeds from one of the cuttings, if it's reversed will be autoflowering?or photoperiod? . I pretty much just stopped talking about it on here cuz ppl are very quick to throw their " facts" at you and call you dumb when they've never tried it cuz some article told them it was impossible. I have, with 100% success taken cuttings from an autoflowering plant and finished them under 12/12. I'm flowering a blue dream "auto" under 12/12 rn, I just waited till the seedling was about 3"tall and cut it and dipped it and just watered it with ph'd water with 1/4 tsp clonex in a gallon of water And same shit. I'm flowering her now kept her in veg for 6 months all the other autos from that order started and finished while this one I did that too stayed in veg the whole time... It's a cool little trick. Valuable knowledge I think, autos have come a long way, and some of the strains are fkn , just being able to take a cut and not have to run your lights up to 24 hours a day finish them under 12/12 save a pile of money, and still have your favorite genetics. Not sacrificing quality in the process... Keep on doing what ur doing man, these little "I wonder what will happen if I....." Experiments are the life blood of sites like this. I wish ppl weren't so quick to know everything already, they might be able to learn something

But. . a clone is an exact genetic replica of a mother right?

Supposedly, Sony would think they would all have the exact same traits, but I've also read in a few different places that the autoflowering gene is a recessive trait in itself, so just taking cuts actually might ha e a different outcome rather then chopping and cloning the whole plant, autos nowadays have almost all been crossed with their PHOTOPERIOD counterpart, I'm still furthering the experiment in a few different directions, but just as stress can take a female plant and flip it to produce male parts, I do believe that chopping the auto like I did just was that same type of scenario, and having had been crossed with in this case with blue dream genetics from a PHOTOPERIOD plant, I think it just brought out the genetics from the other plant, turning it BK to photo? I'm def not a scientist lol nor do I have like written in stone explanations but all I do really know is that it most def worked when I tried it I was able to take an auto and thru inducing stress (cloning an autoflowering seedling) I was able to access the PHOTOPERIOD genes inside the autoflowering plant? If that makes any sense.. I just know I've been told I was an idiot for even breathing the notion quite a few times, but I'd bet $ that if I went in rn and flipped them back to 20/4 or 18/6 she would just keep on growing with the rest of them( I almost did this just to see how big I could get it but I need to finish them to free up room.

I think maybe the auxins in rooting gels keepem in veg longer.
Would be nice to sts an auto clone ane not ruin the whole plant

I'm not hear to point fingers and raise heck..I admire you for doing your experiment...and finding the facts for yourself. When your experiment is done you can decide for yourself.

However, as an avid Autoflower grower myself, I believe you will find your "hypothesis" to be incorrect.

From growing Autoflowers here is what I've found...

- An autoflower is an Autoflower...any cutting I have taken will still continue to grow as an Autoflower..on a set schedule...you do not change the genetic parameters.
- Light is a gaspeddle for Autos..More
Light thoughout lifecycle..larger plants..You can't skew this by growing them longer like photos..
- Autos can be grown on any light cycle..it merely affects the size
of your harvest..Time from seed pop to flowering phase is still more or less the same..less ligjt generally accelerates maturity.
- In my experience, you cannot throw Auto back into a vegetative grow phase in a traditional sense...Once they start flowering time is ticking..I would be interested if you were to find otherwise..

As you said..you are only part way through finding the facts for yourself...I'm guessing your opinions will change when you're done..

Best of Luck...

P.S. Hey everyone wants to squeeze the most bud out of a plant possible..I guess it comes down to how much the extra effort is it worth to a person? To a person with a few seeds it going to mean a heck of a lot more than someone that may have made some seeds of their own...

For me personally this experiment, if you could call it that would not of happened if my wife would not of been planting Peppers and the pots and soil were not on my back patio while on my way to my compost pile. I had no illusions of the outcome, it took nearly 3 weeks for a root to start showing at the bottom of the pots with no growth during that time or no big noticeable growth, they started to grow and come into there own around may 18th, now nearly a month later they are going strong. the autos Plants were chopped and hung on may 30th... pic below

I had roots showing in less than a week. Tent turns on at 9am I’ll show you how it’s looking lol. 4 clones I stuck 2 and 2 in 2.6 liter pots. No veg time straight to 12/12 with the rest of the tent.

Personally I don’t think I ever said you “can’t” clone an auto. But rather it wasn’t worth the time and space because if they are in fact autos, then they are on a time frame.

The main things cloning is used for is to save genetics, and to produce larger runs of identical plants. If you can effieciently do that in your personal grow with an auto somehow more power to you. However I’m not gonna home my breath because everyone that has shown me a clones auto plant in the last 15 years has shown me a tiny little plant with basically a single bud on it which is not practical or efficient for most growers. Nor do I believe that you could make that little plant into vegging mother plant to continue to take clones from. I have never seen one that didn’t start to flower once it had rooted and reached maturity.
