Well, I've heard that letting the bud overripen to trigger the herm will NOT cause feminization in photoperiod plants because it is a natural mechanism of the plant to ensure the survival of the species (Late in season, still not pollinated, last chance mechanism type thing). Not sure how, but that's what I've heard. Was hoping I could get a little clarification on it and if it works with autoflowers.

If it does, I can use that to get some seeds out of my Dinafem Fruit Auto if it turns out pretty good.

I'm still debating on whether I want to or not. I can always just grow it out and then order more seeds later if I like the strain, but then there's the potential for different phenotypes. I have no idea how difficult these things are to breed or how stable the genetics are for the plant. Heh, it's a crap shoot. If I do try to ride it out and see if she'll herm, I'll definitely let you guys know the results. Might even be able to scrape together a few pics by that time, too. I'm just nervous as hell about posting pics, but then, I AM already posting on a pot growers forum. LOL

And also if a particular strain, whether auto or a photo, shows any kind of tendency to hermaphrodite under stress then I would say that you are working with sub par genetics and those tendencies need to be breed out and stabilized at the first possible opportunity. While it is a natural mechanism for the survival of the plant, it is an undesirable one, and certain strains are more susceptible than others, espesially those that have been inbred to the point where the available pool of genetic material is very small. After that, mutations and other strange things begin to happen. It should also be said that when making seeds from feminized mothers the rate of hermaphrodite-ism in the offspring generation will be much higher than if you had used a non-feminized seed.
