Auto seeds & Germination

Hi, I have a couple of questions to put out there.

1, What is the fastest auto seed to harvest that anyone knows of?. I have seen a few posts around suggesting this, that or the other but could not find an actual grow diary.

2, When germinating how long would you guys leave a seed to do its thing? (e.g. 1,2,3 weeks then its pretty much a certainty the seed is dead/rotted etc). From the different methods I have seen there is in water (no more than three days), in a paper towel (not sure on limit, I guess it would be no more than 3/4 days), soil and food wrap (not sure on limit but would have thought much longer). sanding the seeds (I guess all methods after scoring could work). I have tried multiple different methods and so far I would say my best has been wet paper towel on a plate on top of the PC where the heat collects.

As the PC is not on all the time and running a 1000w PSU to germinate a seed is not really economical I invested in a 5w heat mat that I am currently testing. So how long would it be before you guys would give up an a seed using your preferred method?

Thanks

At least a month before you give up, click the link in my sig, the word Scum.
Germination is easy, except when it isn't. The best conditions are like my gf; warm, dark, and moist.
I use Jiffy peat pellets or plant directly in the final medium. I don't believe in germinating then planting, I just plant the motherfucker in something.

I read that thread, it can only be that pink elephant that made it work :)

I drop in plain tap 24 hours. Drop in rockwool cube or peet pellets. Lately just using peet pellets. Should pop within a week.
