Auto or photo?!

I planted two bag seeds in early June. The girls are already about a month into flower. Outdoor grow.
I live on the east coast, zone 7b (if that matters, probably does), days have not hit 12/12 yet.
My question (maybe dumb to seasoned growers but this is my first grow, and it was just on a whim and now I’m really into growing.): Would that indicate the seeds were auto? Or is there no way to actually tell. Thanks!!

If they were already flowering at the beginning of August, seems likely they're autoflowers.

* I missed the bag seed comment, they're not autos

You don't need 12 hours outdoors to initiate flower. Have had plants consistently start flowering early Jan here when the days get under 14 hours.

Every strain/plant differs as to what length dark period will induce flowering...dr bugbee has done studies and came to the conclusion thats it's usually around 10-11 hour dark period that induces flower, with some only requiring 9.5-10 hours..

Days don't go under 12 hours here until the end of March/start of April and that's when most plants are finishing up here.

This was two or three weeks into flower when taken, at Jan 19. Day lengths were still 13:43. It pre flowered late December (same as the last few years) when days were around 14 hours.

So autos don’t produce seeds so is that why I couldn’t be auto? Like make me understand. Lol. Knowledge is power.

Nah, Autos are just like any plant...they pollinate and seed like any plant will

What im saying is that 12/12 is not magic number that induces flowering in photoperiods. Photoperiod can flower anywhere from 14hrs and down

I have never had a photoperiod flower outside when days hit 12 hours, it's always late December, early Jan at 14-13:45.

It's not that your plant "can't be an auto", I'm just stating that using exact day length of 12 hours isn't a reliable way to figure out of a seed is an auto as its usually 13.5 hours or under that'll trigger flower in most photoperiod strains.

To figure out if they are autos you'll have to look for flower starting with day lengths longer than 14 hours, eg 16 or 18.

Yeah. That makes sense about flowering bc it was like 13.5 hours when it started. Cool. Okay. Sorry, I didn’t follow at first. I appreciate your help. I’m just going to enjoy the grow. Lol.

I find it amazing at how accurate their clock is tbh. Our longest day is 14:05 here late December, and it's usually a week maybe two after days start getting shorter that pre flower kicks in...if I had to wait until 12 hour days I'd be waiting until April for start and they'd be finishing in 2c winters nights.

I've had a few fast strains start flowering early December before days shortened. In that window of 13.5-14 hours, sometimes they'll flower at the start of summer and finish before days even get to 12 hours.

Hope it all goes well.
