Hi all, I have grown a few plants from bag seeds (with your help!!) and i'm now looking at purchasing some seeds. During my research i found auto flowering seeds. It seemed to good to be true so could anyone shed a little light on the pros and cons and do/would you use them.

Peace

pros: fast turnaround, small plants make for stealthier growing.
cons: weaker less potent high (but that's improving with more breeding)

Thanks for the info frmrboi, think it is worth a go while i'm getting my first few grows under my belt.
Xogenic ive been looking at lowryder#2 there is some info on it from the site i have been looking at

Genetics: Santa Maria x Lowryder
Type: f1 Hybrid
Harvest Date: 9 weeks from Seed
Flowering Period: 6+ weeks
THC Content: Unknown
Characteristics: Bushy, very early flowering plants with prolific budding.

this is what sold it for me - The result is an auto-flowering dwarf that yields a wonderfully strong, head-turning smoke with intoxicating taste. The strength and flavor is backed by copious resin production and much-improved yield and stability. Buds are larger, tighter and more aromatic than the original Lowryder.

I'm currently growing LR2. Their largest con in my opinion is the very small yield, if you get a normal strain and veg it for a couple of months you will get much more for your time invested. They do however have their place within growing. Because they flower under 18/6 or 24/0 they make a nice thing to add into your vegging chamber alongside your non-autoflowering strain(s) to give yourself a little bumper crop whilst you're waiting.

That makes sense curious soul, and now that gives me the excuse to get some seeds of a diffent strain. There is so much choice i get lost!

yeah that's a VERY good point, I should of mentioned that one. They would be great outdoors in June with 18 hours of sun we get in Canada.

if you look about there is quite a few lowryder crosses from lowlife seeds im spoilt for choice

how many do you recon i could grow under a 400w hps. i usualy grow 10 non auto flowering like ak47 and hashplant so wondering if i could get more than 10

i-would-say-atleast-15-20-plants,just-depends-on-what-strain-you-pick.
I'd think that is a little optimistic. I'd have estimated around 12. They often don't stay all that dwarfish under 400w HPS; quite often reaching 2 ft rather than the quoted 12-18 inches. Your best bet would be to see how many 2 gallon pots you can fit into your grow space.

i-would-agree,but-you-would-want-to-start-some-extra's-so-you-can-weed-out-the-males-after-about-3weeks.then-have-room-for-the-females-to-grow.

Yes, word of warning. Some people, me included have reported a high percentage of males in lowryder strains. I got 8/10 males which was disappointing to say the least. This is unusual but I think the average appears to be less than 50/50. It may be worthwhile investing in the feminized variety for this strain.

i could fit 40 i just got another 400w hps the room can hold 20 average plants so i think it will work but i am thinking if i get males more than females i will flower em and just go seed mad

Just keep the best male. It makes good sense to seed these strains and they don't lend themselves to cloning.

I almost always have a lowryder AK47 growing. They yield about 1.5 - 2 Oz dry under 400w HPS just about everytime. The taste and potency leaves a little to be desired but its something that always keeps your stash up. My initial and only purchase of lowryders produced about 50/50 male/female. I grew out one of each, pollonated the female and have had a ton of seeds ever since. I did have some runt and weak seedling problems with my purchase.
