Attic Design/Space

Hey all,

Been lurking for a while and have learned so much from this site and now have decided to start a small grow for myself but I'm not sure I have the space for it, I know you can grow in a pc case etc but I am hoping to grow 3 girls under 600W Hps aiming to get somewhere between 300/400 grams (enough to cover 2 of us for a 12/14 week cycle)

Here is my very basic planned setup I haven't added ventilation etc to the images I know how important it is and I need it but my first questions before I do anything are:

Height - I'm restricted to maybe 4 Feet of growing height from top of pot to 10/12 Inches from the light

What is my best option - I think a Scrog is my only way but any opinions would be welcome.

600W Hps - Will this be enough light for what I'm hoping to yield ? Total room size would be Height 6' / Width 3' Sloping / Depth 6'

Thoughts / Suggestions all appreciated

being in an attic, i'd say ventilation would be top priority
as far as height restrictions go, just veg the plant 1/2 or so as big as you need, then flower, with a sativa it will grow up to 3x as big, with an indica about 1.5x as big, depending on conditions

the lighting looks great, if you wanted to calculate things 25-50w per sq foot is a good rule of thumb
you could also look at the footprint size, or refer to this chart https://www.rollitup.org/attachments/grow-room-design-setup/2932136d1361769450-amount-lumens-distance_chart.jpg

You might have unworkable heat levels in a tiny attic space.... I'm considering taking the entire upstairs bedroom to grow; it gets terribly hot; but has wonderful natural ventilation. That tiny space tho; idk mang - but it certainly could work..... maybe fluros instead to cut down on heat.

buddy where do u live
1 what is your year temp varible
2 what kind of roof do u have ( materal and color)
3 what kind of house is this ......rent or owned
4 what is your AC plan ,,,,,,,does your house use central air or ac in the windows
5 what is your budget
6 what method do u plan to run soil or hydro
7 what is the size of the opening to access your area
8 have u worked out a method of moving large/heavy items into the area
9 is the area sealed (as in from animals and incests ).............have u layed down a set of toxicens to kill stink bugs and other bugs that use attics to sleep in
10 have u done the floor up so u can walk safely/push move items safetly and easy
11 have u thought about a method to keep any spills or mistakes from getting out of controll (water and soil)

as for the light i would tell u to get
light i will tell u to get a cooltube hood with a digital ballast u can select a watt on ............when u have set it up and kicked it flowering u can change the 600 for a 1000w and get tighter thicker buds

and i am hugly byist i love auto flowering plants they are a quick flip and i avg 4 oz to 7 oz off each plant depends on what it was designed for
biodiesel mass ..........berry ryder..........Berry diesel...........those 3 are my best producers
bio ...........gives u alot it is lemon with a hit
ryder ........is the classic berry short 4 oz
berry.......this is a nice one to pair with biodiesel in a grow since it shape works well with bio shape (it is more of a table top flower.....as bio is more x-mas tree)

1. Summer average 14C - Winter average 2/3C
2. Black slate
3. Rented but not an issue
4. Have a fan with carbon filter still working this one out
5. Budget is €1000
6. Mopito
7. 6x2 Foot
8. Access stairs that's worked out
9. It's not sealed but plan is to build a sealed fitted "box" using soundproofed plasterboard

ok i got yah then

these are just USA verison i am sure u can get it in the uk
Slate roof ......luck bugger

here is the ac unit to cover the roof area ............sommething like that will keep your area cool and cover the dehumitifing if u need it
the heating of the place u could do this with removing the ducting from the cooltube and just have a fan to push the air tho the tube

u should not have much worry about sound nor smell
the venting of it since u are in the attic i am assuming u are 20 feet or more from ground lvl ..............windy days when the wind is blowing at 6 miles on ground lvl 20 feet higher it is blowing 10 miles faster ..........so the sound will be covered by this and the smell too

I grow in my attic.. Actually a loft in the top of my garage but it is still attic.

Temps are the biggest hurdle.. Hot in the summer and cold in the winter!

Second biggest hurdle is Humidity... I used to run a flooded tube and switched to soil in order to lower the humidity. I now use a combination of ventilation, heat and an A/C to control it.

Water on the floor is another issue... It has to be contained within the room. My flooded tube leaked about 10 gallons of water that leaked through the ceiling and was dripping on a work bench. Not fun to walk in and see that!!!

These are just a few things to add to your thinking process.
