Attempt #2: BC Seed King BC Mango and Purps

Ok, so my first attempt was with some random bagseed, and I ended up killing my seedlings with overwatering. BUT! This time, I have a lot more information and I think that I've learned some lessons.

So, I'm starting with 5 seeds each of BC Mango and Purps from BC Seed King. The service I got from BCSK was pretty much in line with most of the reviews that I've read, got my beans 2 weeks after sending my cash payment (from Pennsylvania), discrete and secure packaging, good-looking seeds. We'll see how the genetics turn out, I just wanted something better than bagseed and with their low prices, I won't feel too bad if anything ends up going to shit.

Germinating with the paper towel method, I'm going to put them under CFLs until they're ready for the 400w MH light. I'll have them in styrofoam cups for a few weeks until I switch to 6'' coconut fiber pots with Fox Farm Ocean Forest mix, and apply Fox Farm's liquid soil formulas when the plants are ready. I'm going to switch to a 400w HPS light when it's flowering time. I'm growing in a closet about 4' x 4' x 5', and I'll be lining it with reflective mylar. I'm lucky enough to live pretty close to HTGSupply's retail place, so most of my equipment is going to be coming from them.

That's pretty much it for now, wish me luck, and I'll add pictures when I have more to show :weed:

PS Feel free to leave advice, comments, angry rants, etc. :-D

Update: all of my beans cracked after 24 hours, except for two of the Purps, so I put two more of them in the paper towel, and those did crack. I put the sprouts into peat pellets expanded with water and a little SUPERthrive , and I've been keeping them under a few 23w daylight CFLs.

So far the BC Mango is looking to be the hardier strain of the two, which confirms what I've generally read online. I'll get some pictures up at some point soon.

Can anyone tell me when would generally be a good time to switch to the MH? I want to give my babies enough light, but I definitely don't want to burn them.

Thanks for reading!

Pictures, as promised:

The first two are the BC Mango, which are looking pretty good and healthy (to me, at least), and the second two are of the Purps, which are looking kind of weird and off-kilter, but hopefully that'll clear up (advice?).
