First off let me start by saying hello to everyone at Rollitup! OK so i'm a new grower and I don't have the funds to get high quality grow equipment let alone pay the electric bill that comes with it so i'm taking the cheap approach. There's a couple of pictures of my setup and how its going. I had one plant die on me as you can see I figure it was nutrient lock because the run off ph was around 4.3 and feeding water was at 7 ph. I'm giving it Well water ph'ed to 7 and ppm around 485 w/o nut's added so my question is, If I keep giving it 7ph water will it regulate itself or should i keep flushing it till the run off ph is a better range? My other question is about my nutrients i'm still learning and a little confused as to how much i should give my plant given that 2 of my nuts are not liquid and/or if I should just put the nutrients in a tube sock and a bucket of water and brew it that way, to be able to control the ph of the nutrient filled water? not sure if the tube sock would work though lol. OK now for my set up I do have a grow tent with a regular fan feeding air through the top and forcing out the bottom, I have 2 natural and 2 soft white cfl bulbs. yes it might not be enough lumens but its what i have to work with.
Any help is appreciated

Your well water is a bit high in ppms so if you can filter it and add a little cal/mag back that would give you a better starting point. Best thing you can do is not feed them for the first month they are in new soil, the soil will have all they need if it is a good blend. Then every time you transplant you buy yourself another month of not feeding. Feeding too early is a very common mistake because everyone wants to help their plants, but they need to get bigger first. Good luck!

Edit - just read your post above, forget what I said about soil since you are not in soil!

apologies for calling it soil then, but what ever you want to call that mix i'm just trying to save/fix the other 2 plants so they don't end up dead like the other one.

Thanks for the welcome OD.F

I would really like some instruction on what my run off ppm/ph is telling me and how to regulate it if necessary. I've done research and people say its suppose to tell you if you need to feed them or not and about the ph of my run-off should it be between 6-6.5 or does it not really matter as long as I just correct the ph of the water going in? run-off ph is about 4.3-4.6

You need to be sucking air in from the bottom of your tent and out of the top. Your medium is soiless so you need to add nutes but not yet. Wait until at least 6 sets of leave are fully developed. Then only use 1/8 strength and build up. It's easier to add than remove food. You need to flush your pots out to repair your PH. All your problems will continue if you don't PH your water. When your water is right your medium will be right. Usually.

Get a flushing agent or if money is tight use some liquid detergent in pH'd water. Only a few drops per litre. The. Let them dry out before you water again. Cfls can be very effective just keep them nice and close. Temp at 25 is optimal with RH at 60%.

Ppm/ec tells you what your plants have taken. If you base ec is 1.2 and it goes to 1.5 in runoff they've taken the food, if it goes to 0.8 they've tanked the water or it may be the other way round lol. It's very early here haha.

Thanks for the advise i'll switch my airflow then and as far as the detergent is concerned is there a certain brand/type I should use or is any fine? Also, should I wait for my plants to heal/fix before I transplant them or would transplanting them into a medium with a fixed ph be a better option at this point?

So when i transplant them I should make the new medium 60/40. I'm just wondering if that would hinder the aeration of the medium?

transplant when you want to but you have to remember that the roots will take a few days to make their way out of the current medium into the new if you dont shake off the old medium......in soil i mix 3.1.1...... 3 seedling soil 1 perlite 1 vermiculite but thats my mix and ive never flowered in it or anything so im no authority on the subject......as its only a few drops im pretty sure it deosn't make too much difference but id go for an ECO brand thats made of natural ingredients. it just acts as a wetting agent and helps the water penetrate the soiless mix which means itll flush better

Hi I have gon all the way from 18-6 to 12-12 in a mix withe peat and vic / pearl.
You should put the mix that you like.a 50/50 mix runs of is to quick and your lady's are all ways struggling to hold on to the love you are giving them with a dif mix that you like, the run off will then take longer and that's better all round imop good luck .
