Dr How do i coordinate my co2 tank with regulator and my canfan that i just bought? Do i stick the canfan directly in flower room and if so, wont it suck out my co2 as it filters out my air every 4 or 5 minutes?
Is the canfan going to----1. cool your lights?----2. exhaust air? 3. "scrubber" the air in room?.

Sorry, I was told it works best to blow air thru it so i was going to use it to exhaust air out into diff room. I need it for odor control and really dont care how its used as long it can odorize room without losing all my co2. any suggestions would be much appreciated thanx sparty

My suggestion if you don't want to waste co2 is to have an intake duct from another room that goes through the hoods and exhausts into a third room. That way you won't be pulling co2 enriched air from the grow room. The can fan can just scrub the air in the growroom, recycling it.

Personally I just pull air through an open end on the hood and remove it from the growroom, which does waste co2 but works for me...

Also, in the debate of push vs pull, I'm definately in favor of pulling air through the hoods.

Reason;

Pushing air through creates a positive pressure inside the hoods, air will find the easiest route to get out of the hood, small leaks around the glass will have air pushing out of them, making the cooling capability less efficient, because you're pushing hot air out of the cracks and into the grow room.

Pulling air through creates negative pressure inside the hoods, and light will be sucked in through those small gaps, and be removed from the room, no hot air has a chance of sneaking through a small gap.

Also, when pushing air through, if you're using flexible ductwork, it expands like a balloon, and I've had trouble keeping them attached to the hoods because of the pressure.

Lastly, always keep your ducting as simple and short as possible, excess ducts create more static resistance and your fan's CFM rating will be effected.

Doc,
Say I normally keep my plants watered with water in the ph range of 5.5-6.2, and every month or two flush them with tap water that is around 7.2.-7.4.
Would that affect them in any noticeable way?

If you can adjust the pH down to the proper level it would be better... The only bad result of using 7.2 water might be a slight pH problem, but it should be alright either way...

Sorry, I'll stop answering your questions now Doc

Hi Doc, i have a real newbie question for you. I am a bout 5weeks into my first real attempt an indoor grow. and i was wondering if i should add some nutes at this pint to my soil which is half promix-hp/ocean forest foxfarms. I have 4 whitewidows about 7-8 inches tall. i would like to keep them vegging for at least two more weeks until i get my hps lighting. how do i apply my nutes? should i dilute themin distilled water? i dont get ml? can someone break it down for me by table spoons? is it like 1 tsp per the container your growing in?

Can you break the lifecycle up into parts for me... preferable for outdoors, but indoors would be ok too...

I need to know how many months a plant would veg after germination, and then how long flowering takes on average... (for the majority of strains).

I have seeds that says 15 weeks.... is this just the flowering time?

I am making notes of my gorila plants as we go along... they will give me the best info relaing solar phase and growth stages for local conditions, but I'd like to have a rough idea... At the moment I feel like a5year old on the backseat "are we there yet? how about now? and now? "

dr? I have 1 oscillating fan on at all times and another 340 cfm inline that i use to bring fresh air in with 15-20 minutes at a time 2 or 3 times a day.

not really----just make sure that your tap water doesn't have a high consintration of clorine--if it does you should let it sit for 24 hours befor use(putting a airstone in there will help the process). I personaly do not use tap water to flush-----my tap water comes out at 720ppm's--not really a flush is it:cry:..---

It's called a conversion chart, you can change Metric to stupid by going to google and typing convert mL to teaspoons... or vice versa...

I'm pretty sure teaspoon is 5mL,
tablespoon is 3 teaspoons, or, 15mL.

Yeah, start feeding them I'm sure they're hungry.

Dilute in regular water, there's something funny about distilled I think, filtered or spring if your buying it, but I imagine tap water will work in your case. If you've been reading... let it sit for 24 hrs.

don't apply nutes directly to the soil, always dilute them to the suggested amounts.

This is a good time to add nutes---OCEAN FOREST will carry your plants for about a month without nutes being added. As for the nutes you should start at a low dose at first----say 250 ppm's--do you have a ppm/ec/tds meter?--If not the standard rule is to start with 1/4 strength nutes with every other watering-----feed-----plain water-----feed----plain water---act.
some don't recommend distilled water but you can use it without problems---bottled water-----tap water that has sat overnight to remove chlorine---R/O water(reverse osmosis)---anyway how much water you will need will depend on the container size of the plant as well as the size of the plant. Let's say those 4 plants are going to need a gallon---here we go-----fill the gallon with your chosen water source--then look at the back of the directions on the nutrient bottle or bottles----let's say it says " ADD 5ml per gallon with every other feed.(this is probably still a little strong for your first feed and could burn the plants) so we will take it down to 2.5ml--so you would add 2.5 ml of the nut to your gallon of water---mix----check and PH the mix----(for soil 6.3 is a good number to balance to) then feed.--On the next watering you can just use plain PH'd water--no nutes added. 1 ml = .20 teaspoons/.06 tablespoons/.03 fluid ounces.------so one teaspoon = 5ml-----1/2 teaspoon = 2.5ml and 1/4 teaspoon = 1.25 ml.------one tablespoon =15ml-------1/2 tablespoon = 7.5ml----1/4 tablespoon =3.625---(for all the exacto's-------teas/4.93ml-----tabls/14.78:blsmoke:).

MJ is an annual--------1st phase is germination and it can last up to 10 days from sprout but most likely 4 days. The next phase is the seedling stage and it starts when the first true Set's of leaves appear and can last four to six weeks minus the germination phase. The next phase is the vegetative phase and can last 2 to 4 weeks. The next phase is the pre-flowering phase which can last 1 to 2 weeks and then the last phase is the flowering phase which can last from 5 weeks in ruderal/hybrids to 3 months for long season pure sativas.----If the seeds say 15 weeks this usually means that the flowering phase only will take 15 weeks. Each strain is different so you probably will have to find someone that has grown it out to get the exact time frame you need to know----or just grow it out---I always like a little surprise:mrgreen:. hope this helps.

I take it you want to get the most out of your co2 usage and not waste it!!!???----As HM said run your lights through your hood from an outside the room location and dump the air outside the room as well---seal the room up tight and don't run any ventilation during the lights on period with the use of co2---run your ventilation for the 12 hours the lights and co2 are off. If humidity becomes a problem use a dehumidifier. Keep your temps around 83 to 86 while the co2 is running----note:Your room can get to 90 for short periods of time while using co2 and during the lights on time without problems or plant health being affected. For fast growth keep you nighttime temps at 75 to 78.----keep your co2 ppm's set to 1500 to 1700.
