i just thought about this. would it work if your bud is done flowering and you cut the main stem and stick it in a glass of water that is mixed with maybe vanilla extract? maybe even orange juice or something delicous? do you guys think it would work. or how about using food coloring in water to give the bud a hue. my autos are almost done and im gonna give it a try on 1. mmmmhhh... vanilla flavored bud smoke sounds delicious.

Seen it done with food coloring and it worked. But the bud tasted like ass.
Food coloring is tasteless, therefore I doubt the taste had anything to do with that.

I intend to try this with cinnamon extract on my next harvest.

Ugh. You won't get the same flavor out of whatever your feeding 'em in your bud!

Smoking things you eat is not the best idea.

Smoke a bowl of sugar and tell me if that's any sweet!

menthol cough drops will disolve in water,I use them in my bong water once in a while,so maybe the plant will absorbe it.I'll stick to just plain cured weed. but good luck

Although this isn't artificial flavoring, I've heard that if you put peels into an air tight glass jar (lets say orange peels) the bud will smell / have an orange taste (or whatever you use). Is this true?

if you gonna grow a strain grow it and let it keep its own distinctive taste and smell dont take from its original traits. and especially if you sellin it dont tell me its orange kush and really is some low grade shit that was cured with orange peels or some shit just keep it original. if you start doing shit like that why would i buy purp for 40 when i can buy reg for 15 and add purple food coloring and call it purp dont start this shit

The reason for doing that is to get some moisture back in the buds if they have dried too much. I have done this and it works for moistening the buds but it doesnt add any flavor. I also made it a point to keep the bud and orange peel from touching.

lame thread, seen super purple budds at the dispensory and they called it they're "exotic" strain. velvet kush, was more like swag than kush.

If it's a little variety you're after rather than trying to sell stuff off as a strain it's not, you're better off just using flavored papers like Juicy J or one of those herbal tobacco alternatives. You get some tasty mixes with stuff that'll compliment your bud nicely... like Opium Lettuce XD

But why would you want to color it if you're just going to roll it up and smoke the shit anyway? I do like outdoor grows to be pretty though. Maybe it's because I'm a girl I'm more aesthetically oriented, jizzing over photos of White Rhino.
