Area where soil is moist all the time... Bad?

Hi Everyone -
About to start a winter time outdoor auto grow. ~28.5 Latitude (Tampa area) with only a small chance of temps dropping below 30F.
My question revolves around the area that I want to plant. It is a coastal area that is on the sides of where a freshwater river meets the ocean salt water. Soil is fairly fertile, but thin over a limestone base. The rock is only about 6-10 inches down. The soil around the area stays moist pretty much all the time. I think it mostly has to do with the elevation being near zero and the river being very close. My concern is around how much water is too much water for a plant that is in the ground? If we get some winter rains, then I am sure the ground could stay wet for days. There are two options I was contemplating:
1: Work the soil in with perlite, potting soil, etc.. until I have good mix and then simply stick the seedlings in the ground.
2: Use a smart pot that would stay ~halfway in the ground and half out of the ground. I figured the pot would soak up some water, but with the upper half being out of the ground, it would be drier than other option. Thoughts?

Also, the area is a very small clearing among an area of cedar trees, palm trees, and other scrub - I figure it gets pretty good sun about half the day and mostly shade the other half - You think it would be worth thinning out the surrounding tree limbs or just leave it? Thanks!

use a smart pot - not the ground - and put it on top of the ground, IF you know the soil isn't being moistened by that brackish water. If it is, put the pot on a rock or something. burying the pot will strip the pot's potential to drain as efficiently - with that much moisture it's entirely possible that the roots will bust through the bottom and you won't need to water much if at all. and I wouldn't go trimming branches for more light - that shit looks pretty bad if you get caught - just fish around for the best light you can. good luck and post pics please!
