It really is up to you. Plant numbers have their up sides and down sides. A single plant "ScrOG" (ie: training the plant under a net or screen, aka (Screen Of Green), will fill out your area, but the downside is that you will have to veg it longer before flipping to flower. For a quicker turnaround, more plants will fill out the same space with less veg time, so you can get a quicker harvest. There are other factors, like pot size and watering frequency, which may affect your decision. Small pots will need more frequent watering than large pots.

My advice would be to read up on SOG (sea of green), Scrog (briefly described above), LST (low stress training), topping and supercropping. These are all training techniques that will help you maximise your yield in a given space, and armed with these techniques, you can find out what kind of grow will suit you best.

thanks alot for the advice! i appreciate it, i have heard of these methods of "training" the plants but am unexperienced in ever using these methods and dont want to ruin my crops by doing something wrong...any chance of directing me into which method i should use and maybe a detailed approach in accomplishing it..Please!? thanks again!

i see, thanks for the link, i could make it 4 maybe 4.5 max with some manouvering, would that still mean i would have to train the plant, if not would i loose out on alot of bud and space if i didnt??? once again thanks for the help!

A trained plant will always outyield an untrained plant when under indoor lights. The "christmas tree" shape of an untrained plant works well outside where the light moves across the sky, but indoors, a flat canopy works best. Basically, you want as much of the plant as close to the light as you can get it.

Training is not essential, but it definately helps, and even moreso when you are height restricted. At the minimum, i would suggest topping the plants once or twice in veg (see link for details), so you have multiple tops per plant, and the plant will end up shorter.

And yes, if you can possibly add an extra foot or so, it will save you some headaches.
