Are You Getting The Most out of your Mother?? F.A.Q.

When Growing and Maintaining a full mother theres a few things you need to ask your self before you start.
Qa. How much room do i have to grow
Qb. How much light do i have
Qc. How much root medium are you going to use
Qd. How many clones do you want to cut
Qe. Tie down branches/ bending branches

Aa. use of hps lights durring veg makes the plant stockier and bush out, i would suggest use of 400w hps or Mh in a minimum of 3.5x3.5 space(can look at my pic for reference)
Ab. use of Hps or Mh highley recomended, 400 watt is ideal
Ac. Mothers grow fast when they have alot of root space, i recomend 10gallon soil bags or pots. i origanaly placed clone inside 2.8gallon air pot then when roots showed up on the bottom i placed the pot ontop of 10gallon soil bag(reffer to picture)
Ad. Everytime you cut your plant it causes stress and takes energy away from her so you want to wait some time before u just start cutting her away, recomend 4weeks before you cut, she will also provide bigger clones the longer u wait..
Ae. i always tie down my branches because it will allow more light to penetrate lightless areas, and also makes the branches thick, kinda like shes lifting weights.

Wow thanks man. Been wondering about keeping a mother plant. One question is how do you stop it from getting huge? I will be keeping it in a dwc setup but I assume putting it in a small bucket will keep it small in the same way that it will in soil.

the airpots have out grown anything ive tried so far. here is white widow plant after 3 days in air pot

And one more thing, I assume its possible to keep them smaller. Going to get less clones off it but thats ok. Am I right?

just keep tie down most of her branches and maybe chop his top. that will slow his height growth

yes you will get much less clones and clone size will be small

What do you mean clone size? As in the size of the cutting I take?

I think the majority of people here can use a much smaller setup - but this would be nice

I used 2-100w cfl"s out grew pots and lights in 5 months. still taking cuttings it heals fast. put one that out grew the pot outside. it is getting big. Its in the smaller bush there are two that grew togather, [/ATTACH]
