Are timers reliable?

I have a timer with a wheel, push down segments for on time. It went from 9-9, to 8-8, now 715-715. So it's changed a few times now.

Do u think I bumped into it accidentally turning the knob, or is the timer not keeping the right time? Any input or similar experiences?

Thanks

Cheap timers - no
Good timers - yes

Make sure you have a timer with 30amp contacts if using hid. I went through loads of cheap timers years back and then switched to heavy duty timers and never had an issue since.

timers are shit . they blow up when they want . especially those 10 dollar ones I used to have a spare timer laying around freaking stupid . now I just switched over to heavy duty timers bought from home depot they cost 50 bucks but last for ever industrial ones only way to go .
