I got a few plants all planted around the same time they are about 4ft tall and the colas are about the size of a plum.

I have tried some samples and quick dried them using the toaster method, i enjoy the high it gave me.

Would you say these are ready to harvest?

This is my first grow and this strain is 8 weeks flowering time as per the seed bank i got the seeds from.

its been exactly 7 weeks into flowering can they be ready for harvest?

Should i wait or should i harvest?

Also i have attached a picture of some lower buds they are covered in trichs as you can see but they still have 80% white pistils.

Some feedback would be great.

Thanks.

i would let em go for the 8 weeks, the buds can pack on pretty good in last couple weeks and dont want to ruin yeild, smoke wise they may dry/cure just fine and be great smoke but again more is better and by harvesting early you can skimp yourself on yeild. i would give them another week and see if they are continuing to fatten if they are keep letting them grow :) it can be verry tempting to chop and get that dry/cure going but in the long run it pays to wait.

just my 2¢

thanks for the tips. how much growth could i really get in the week id be waiting?

I am in no rush to part with my girls haha

Hidden under all the leaves they get more frosty closer to the stem.

Also this is a purps strain yet i havent seen any purple as of yet?? does anyone have any insight?

bkbbudz THAT CHART is AWESOME.

however i have had a TREMENDOUSLY hard time finding a magnifier that is better than 5x in order to inspect them properly.

They might look great but they SMELL fruity and even the quick dried bud smoked fairly smooth. i am excited for the cured product!

feed as you are for a week and give plane water for a week or so, let them get a bit fatter
looks like a 10 weeker/70 day flowerer to me :leaf:

Too my knowledge the purplish color is induced by colder climates not necissarily the genetics. I could be wrong though have never done a purple run YET. Dying too try some Purple Kush or Grandaddy Purps. Will soon.

I would suggest waiting until the triche's are about 75% amber as in the chart. Then shutting off the lights and leaving them dark for 24-48 hours. Some say this heightens potency and trichome aging. I tend too agree. Neve really did a side by side though, that's an idea I have 2 coming close to finish now myself.

i have also heard that if you leave your plants in total darkness before harvest will increase potency since trich development is active during "night time"?

anyone ever heard/done this?

fuck I dont know what to respond to on this thread first... so much to call into question.
someone said if you cut early the bud will dry and cure fine, I do not think this is always the case. I have a strain that cut early even with damn near no cure tastes good but is harsh. It pretty much tastes good regardless. But I have some strains that are let go the fullest time possible and are clearly fully done, yet need a good cure to let the taste and smell shine and show.
I think early cut weed that isnt dense dries differently as well and can be tricky if ur used to dense buds.

The darkness before harvest thing... I havent seen any side by side studies. You would have to have one that was in the dark, on that was left in the light and one that was cut at the point of putting the other into darkness to compare all the angles, and the plants would have to be close to identical as possible.

uh forgot the other issues in this thread... maybe ill be back

many strains have some or nearly all purple color in the genetics...

radio shack has the scopes, handheld i think 60-100x for cheap.
that chart is tricky.... careful. if you think its done post in the thread about are my plants done then wait at least a week. Best rule if you think there done wait a week

Thanks everyone for your responses.

I will get my hands on a good magnifier in the next day or so.

It appears to me as if some of my larger buds have gotten smaller in the last few days so i will be waiting it out for at least a week to see if they swell again.

I might also conduct a test if i can get 3 plants that are very similar in size and looks and see if leaving them in the dark produces any different results.

For the record this has been a CFL in veg state and 6x 45wt5HO lamps in flowering.

Use clones, they are identical in size and genetics.

I say flush those and cut in probably a week to 10 days. I know some people like to take their plants a long time but when tissue begins to die while on the plant it will burn funny and not taste as good as it could.
