Are these plants small? Are they healthy?

So I have these 2 plants (1 silver lemon haze on the left, 1 northern lights on the right).

They are at 7 weeks old and they are only 11" tall. I've been LST training them out a bit but in comparison to some grow diaries I've seen, I feel like I'm behind.

I think the setup is good to them.

  • I have a 240W QB LED at 60% in my 2x4' test and don't see signs of stretching.
  • I have fox farm ocean forest soil + 30% pearlite and see no yellowing of deficiencies.
  • I water 1.5L / plant every 2-3 days (I check the soil is dry with my finger and a hydrometer).

But they aren't big like some grow diaries I see. Since they seem healthy I don't know what would be holding them back.
Any thoughts or help? Pretty please!

They look good.
Don't worry about their size compared to others. People use different mediums, lights, environments, etc that all have an affect on growth rate. Then there's genetics to consider as well.

I concur with creature 1969. If they are healthy that’s ALL the proof you need. Stunted plants generally always look suspect. Yours don’t. Don’t compare to others. Too much of that and it causes insecurities. Quickly!!! Try what that girl is doing so I can have plants like hers lol! Inconsistencies are what the plants DO NOT LIKE. Trying this that etc. Stay the course brother I can’t wait to c them in awhile!

Thanks everyone!
I know other people have different grows but I'm aiming to be a be really awesome grower :)

If the plants are healthy but I'm aiming for them to be bigger at similar ages on my next build is there some thing I should look at? Like 100% intensity light from earlier?

At what age did you begin the training? Training/ / bending will yield a smaller more compact plant in general. If you start too soon they may grow slower. I give mine 2 1/2 weeks from rooted cutting then bend them to as close to 9 degrees as I can w out breaking them. The taller more vigorous ones I tip prune as well. Mine look exactly like yours do at 3 weeks old. Yours maybe little bigger. Then into the sea of green flower and they explode.
You managed to create all those beautiful bud sites at approximately the same height ++++!!!
Your going to be smiling big when you make the flip!!
a suggestion: more light intensity. You will CRUSH it w an air cooled hood w a 600 watt hps in your 2x4 tent.
OR
More LED power.
Shoot for 50-60 w per sq foot whichever lighting you choose.
cooler temps slow growth but make a more compact plant. If your hovering around 70 degrees plus or minus a couple that would be a tad on the low side. Still doable though.
Your going to get your huge plants if you want them but more small plants with bud sites like yours will yield big! Don’t be afraid to thin fan leaves when needed long as the plants are not stressed. Moderate till u get used to it. Rambling again. Sry lol happy growing. Post more pics in a couple weeks!

Hmmm so right now I have my 240W QB 1ft from the canopy at 60% intensity.

I know people raise the intensity at flower time. Should I just go to 100% intensity now? As long as it doesn't seem like I'm burning them.

Also I read something that said 240w was lots for a 2x4 when I bought this so now I'm a little bummed I didn't go bigger :/ oh well.

Yes I would. Just keep an eye on them. You want avoid drastic changes. Go to 100% and if you want to play it safe raise the light a bit for the first day then lower it to where it was.
I don’t think you’ve got anything to worry about though. You can grow good buds w less than 50-60 watt per sq foot btw. Don’t let that figure shake you. Especially if your just growing head stash. You can always upgrade in the future.

I'd increase the light up to max, little by little. Your plants look great, but that's probably why they grew slowly. Fine plants sir, fine plants i say!

So i think I didn't play it safe enough. I raised it to 80% as soon as I read the comment and now they are all droopy :(
I turned it down a bit and I think I can navigate my way to 100% power :)

thanks everyone!

Droopy hmm., could be just that. Make sure they have adequate water (not too much or little). Lift the pots before watering and then again after watering to get an idea of how heavy the pot should feel. Runoff out of the bottom of the pot does not always indicate your medium is adequately moist. If it ever dries WAY out where the pot is light as a feather it can be difficult to re-wet especially in a peat based mix. The water will not penetrate and run right out the bottom wetting only the surface and the sides of the root ball. In this case SLOW application or bottom watering is necessary to rehydrate the medium. Know what I mean?
You can play w the height too. Raising and lowering your light after your up to 100%.
Your temps are not too high I trust. I ramble sometimes sry if I am becoming tiresome!

So I waited a day and hoped it would get better. It didn't :(
I attached 2 pics
  1. one the same as in the original image at the start of the thread and everything is droopier.
  2. The other is an image of the leaves more close up. If anything they feel too dry to me, but the soil isn't dry enough to water :|
What I did:
  1. Turned the lights up to 100% for a few hours, then down to 80% once I realized 60%-100% was too big of a jump. I didn't drop back to 60% because that would be going the wrong way :/
  2. I didn't turn the light down under 80% but I did raise them up 1 ft more. Didn't seem to do much :|
It's winter here, so the plants are between 68-78F and on 18/6 lighting :|
Maybe I did them in by putting it straight to 100% for a bit :(

Plant mysteries :/
Thoughts?

Sheet! Good news is they are green! Your qb draws 240 watts. 240 watts for a for a 2x4 tent def is not over doing it. Wow, I cannot imagine it’s all that? I’ve really only used cheap purple LED lights before 350 watts they were. I’m sorry. I should have considered it more and Gave you the same advice as Rurumo did. What can happen in situations where the light is ramped too quick is the increase in light and to some extent heat can cause a spike in water/ nutrient uptake that can “shock” or stress the plant out somewhat giving them the downward leaf curl like they look at lights out. They are trying to restrict transpiration. This seems likely. I’ve seen this type of stress but under more extreme conditions. On occasion Plants coming out of a 65-70 degree veg room from under t-5’s, then potted up and placed Into the flower room lit with 1000 watt hps lamps and these plants showed the exact same downward leaf curl symptoms as yours. Much, much worse if they were on a heavy feed schedule before the transition. I dimmed the lights to 600 watts and gave them water only no nutes, then ramped everything up gradually over the following week. They came back just fine and I am fully confident yours will as well.
What Rurumo stated in that last post about gradually increasing the light to 100%. That most likely would have lessened the shock. Your plants were on a slow but steady track and a gradual increase would have followed suit.
So your at 80% and the light is one foot higher than it was when it was at 60%? That sounds good. The intensity should be close to where it used to be. I cannot see that adding any more stress at this point. Make sure they are hydrated. I’d go w quarter strength nutes if any for a few waterings or until plants start to look normal again. If you have been feeding regularly they def not going to miss nutes for a few watering. Then go back to 100% and GRADUALLY lower your qb to your desired height. I’m sorry I’m so long winded. Just make sure no other stressors like lack of water or high temps mix in is all.
Something I just thought of.,, they aren’t pot bound right? Long as the root ball isn’t rock hard. If it is that adds another layer to all this and probably another long ass fucking novel from the genius who told you to go from 60-100% in one day. I Honestly would never have thought! Doesn’t matter how long I’ve been growing! I still learn every day and make plenty of mistakes trying to interpret plant to English. Lol I guess? Ya gotta keep me posted. Please!

lol you didn't tell me to go crazy, that was my bad. And I SUPER appreciate the help! I was just thinking if 240W was too little for the tent it wouldn't hurt to go to 100%, but that was dumb :P

Today the plants seem happier, I can't really measure it, but I think they are more perky. So I'll give it another day before I increase it another 10%. They are photoperiod plants so I can recover :P This is a bit of a delay but so was me not turning up the lights early enough! It's still way better than my first grow!
