Are These Girls Ready?

Hey all, my hubby and I are growing 3 Ak-47 and 3 og kush in a 14g DWC system, using canna nutes. They have been on 12/12 for almost 7 weeks and my hubby says they are ready and I disagree. I have heard that you're supposed to wait until the hairs go from white to orage/red. I know the og are supposed to take 2 weeks longer so I'm not including the pics of them but what do you think about these ak's, how long do you think they need? (the 1st pic was taken under normal light a few days ago and not under a HPS light) Thanks a bunch! =)

The best way is to check out the trichomes. You want the trichs to be cloudy. When most is cloudy they're ready to go. You would need a magnifier to see that though.

I would be able to see with a mag glass? I've heard you have to use a microscope and I don't have one and am broke until next week, but I could definitely get my hands on a mag glass. Thanks for the advice =)

It's very obvious these have a way to go....... by the last picture I'd say around 2 weeks. Hairs are just 1 way to determine how done a bud/plant is but it's not the best way. Get a 30X or higher scope to see a clear picture of the resin glands. When the color moves from clear to cloudy (or milky) to amber (redish)- about 10%-30% amber it will be it's most potent. Cut when trichomes are clear will give a move heady high. Amber will give you more of a body high. The biggest mistake newbie gardeners make is cutting early. And then they are somewhat disappointed with the results. It also appears you have some health issues with the plants too. This might affect some decisions but I guarantee you'll be much happier leaving them for a couple of more weeks........

Looks like another 2 weeks would fatten them up a bit. I definitely would not chop them now.

Thanks for the advice everyone. Yes they have some issues, we brought these plants back from horrible health after we almost lost them, we accidentally used a see through tote for the clones for the 1st two weeks and they got root rot really bad, then we had temperature issues. Then they were poorly cared for, for a little over a week while we were in the hospital having our son a month ago. Compared to what they were, they look beautiful. This is only our 3rd grow, and our first grow actually having decent equipment. I told my hubby what you guys said, he is going to wait a couple more weeks. I am just excited to make some butter and some treats! I haven't smoked or eaten any goodies in ten months, so hopefully next month when I start again, these buds will be all cured and ready to go! =) Thanks again for the advice everybody! and thank you lovebud420 =)

Using a 400w hps for veg and flower, hopefully we'll have a metal halite (don't know how to spell it lol) by the end of next month just in time for the next grow
