Are there any substitutes for using Bat/Seabird Guanos?

They're quite expensive. A 2 pound bag of Bat Guano Bloom Runs about 30 dollars at the hydro store!!

Can't find guano at Home Depot or Lowes either :(

Unbelievable how I can get a 75 pound bag of worm castings for 7 dollars, and 2 pounds of bat poo is costing me 4 times as much!!!

Can cow/sheep poop be used as a substitute when making teas!?!? Any testimonials of substitutes is greatly appreciated.

I use cow and sheep manure for my teas, never used guano and I have great results.
My recipe is 2cups sheep and cow manure, 2 tbps neptunes harvest 2-4-1 and 4 tbsp of molasses, all that is added to 5 gallons of water and bubbled for 24hrs. If I mix at that strength one feeding, the next feeding I'll cut the manure and fish hydrolysis by half and subtract the molasses by one tbsp then back to normal the next feeding.

I used to grow cannabis without guano. You really don't need it. If you can get blood meal and bone meal, you'll be fine. Besides I think guano -bloom or grow- are better off amended into the soil mix ahead of time or top dressed than added into bubbled tea or solution if your using a soil mix.

Ouch... Bat guano around here is ~$1.50/lb. Guanos can be replaced with pretty much any other water soluble amendment - just find one that has a similar NPK.

Alfalfa meal, soybean meal, feather meal, plain old blood meal, lots of N substitues. See what you can source locally. Alfalfa meal is >$20 for a 50lb bag, usually ~$12. Called 'Alfalfa meal', rabbit food, horse pellets/cubes ......... Just check out the ingredient label. Most alfalfa meal is labeled as something else like food, but is still 100% alfalfa.

For any of these, a feed store is a REALLY good bet.

Bone meal and Kelp meal will round you out.

You may need to do kelp meal online. Look for the cheapest shipping. Kelp meal=kelp meal=kelp meal for the most part.

MEAL!! Do not bother with liquid, extract, concentrate, whatever isn't plain old meal. A 5lb bag is more than enough to get going, but it is a *Must Have*.

Definitely all about feed stores. If you make it to one you might as well pick up 5 gallons of black strap while you're at it. Waaayyyy cheaper than alternatives.

With a quick internet search I found a 5 pound bag for 30$before shipping. I'm sure there are some even better deals if you look around.

Fishbone meal is very high P if you can find it. It stinks to high hell so I keep mine in a bucket with a tight lid with the other amendment my dog will eat. I think that is why no one stocks it? I ordered mine off amazon it was $32 for 25 lbs. K is just important as P when building a mix IMO. Good question tho. Vegan P sources anyone?
