I am looking to spring for a 400W MH bulb for veg. I already have the good Hortilux Eye HPS for flower and I am wondering if the extra $$ is worth it for veg time. Recomendations???
Are the more expensive bulbs worth it for just veg?

T8 or T12s work just fine for veg rooms... I've been using T12 for veg for 15 years and see no reason to upgrade to T5, CFL or MH, infact I think T12 is better than CFL.
You can get 4 foot shoplights for 10 dollars and it fits 2x40W lamps which are really cheap, so why bother with anything else?
I guess what I'm trying to say is it doesn't matter.. I think a lot of people spend too much for light for their veg area when they don't have enough flowering space for the plants to go anyway. If you're going to get another HID, you may as well just expand your flowering room instead of the veg room.

DUDE!!! please take what i have to say to heart.
I have spent upwards of $5,000-6,000 worth of buying $hit and have sold most of it in the past 3yr, yes some of it was stupid buying and falling victim to marketing(prob about 1,000-1,500 of it)....((fucken 1000w set up bull shit!!!!))
I have use 'MaxLume' bulbs for 12/12 and veg. The work just as well as anything out there .period. I would love some shmuck to prove me wrong that there $120 MH or HPS buld produced better then my MaxLume that cost me $15-20!!!! Please do, show me a side by side w/ some lab reports on how your sh!t had like 1-2% more THC or CBD or maybe 5% more yield...................please do

Another to consider is Plantmax for vegging. They make 7200k MH bulbs, which would be great for vegging, much better than the typical 3000-4000k lights. No experience with them however, but I've not seen any bad word about them.
