Are shot glasses an ideal place to start?

If I had a few disposable plastic shot glasses, could I start seeds in them w/ some soil? I've used the paper towel method as well, but I enjoy having the seeds sprout of the soil lol i know sounds hella lame

any feedback?

I use 18 oz plastic cups for starting seeds. The roots grow really fast and need lots of space to grow. I usually transplant at 3 weeks. My advice, start them in a bigger cup than a shot glass. It can be done, but that doesn't mean it works well.

I start mine in biodegradable pots. looks like pressed cardboard or peat or .?? The roots will grow right through the pots. Just tear off the sides a little and plant them right in the pot.

Thanks for all the feedback peeps! I guess the reason I'm asking this is because shot glasses=minimum soil usage, this way I can conserve the soil for the bigger pots. Summer's over and I don't know if I will look WAYYY too shady buying potting soil in the fall lol...
