Are ornamental Aloe the same?

So if I buy a random and asethically appeasing Aloe does it carry the same benefits to an organic gardener as the same 'garden variety' type you commonly see used? I've seen the dehydrated extract used as plant food and raw leaflets broken off used as rooting compound am wondering if ornamental varieties found online carry the same beneficial characteristics as the regular variety?

Aloe vera is the one to get, yes in most cases is the standard retail version

common as a good all rounder

I installed a plant in my BBQ area in case of beer burn accidents

now plays an important surfactant role in my germing of weed

Thanks for the response man. After doing a bit of reading it sounds like some other species have medicinal properties as well but aloe vera is the most prominent.
